The story itself isn't bad, but like so many of these Christmas movies, it isn't great either. The angle of finding her secret Santa is a little different. Having to save something (the residence) by Christmas is overused. There was an element that might have been a little surprising, but no big surprises. The orphans and what they did were good for the story.
The acting was very flat. Michelle Trachtenberg has appeared in a lot of titles, but here she has no spark to her character at all. Chemistry between her and Sterling Sulieman is especially lacking. The editor and the guy playing Johnson senior both delivered their lines with little feeling.
***NOT-QUITE-SPOILER*** I was especially unhappy that a dirty trick was not taken seriously enough. ***
