Above the bridge

Warning: Spoilers
"Scen nr: 6882 ur mitt liv" or "Autobiographical Scene Number 6882" is a 9-minute live action short from 2005, so this one is already over a decade old. The director and also one of the writers is Ruben Östlund that is today mostly known for his BAFTA and Golden Globe (and almost Oscar) nominated film "Turist". But we will speak about that one on another occasion. When he made this short film here, he was around the age of 30 and it is basically about a bunch of young people (men and women) talking about a challenge who dares to jump off a bridge. An old man passing by saying that people died after doing the same isn't helping matters at all. So, this is not just a film about courage, but also about fear and masculinity, all subjects that also play a major role in "Turist" I believe. But still I was not really convinced eventually. The static camera did not work as well in here as it does in Östlund's film about witnessing a bank robbery and the characters themselves are also relatively forgettable. In terms of the dialogues it is not a bad film and also relatively authentic I would say. As for the ending, it is entirely subjective if you liked it or not and I myself am also a bit undecided still. All in all, I am not convinced though and give this one a thumbs-down. Looks like Östlund really stepped things up in the last decade.
