Routine kung fu vehicle with a few elements of interest

Warning: Spoilers
HORSE BOXING KILLER is a rare and low budget kung fu film made as a collaboration between Hong Kong and Taiwan. This usually means that the film was made with money from Hong Kong and shot in Taiwan where production costs were always cheaper. This film was notably released on a budget DVD here in the UK on the Vengeance Video label although fans were in for a surprise when they spun their discs and found DESCENDANTS OF WING CHUN instead.

The film is a stock copy of the Jackie Chan twofer, SNAKE IN THE EAGLE'S SHADOW and DRUNKEN MASTER. Simon Yuen plays in support as the usual beggar master. The actor supplies the comedy while his stand-in does the cool martial art stuff. The pretty heroine practises swallow style before teaming up with the hero and being forced to train horse style instead in order to tackle the big bad guy. The action is low rent as are the production costs but fans of the genre might find a scene or two to enjoy.
