Great Bob Hope!
29 August 2016
A radio broadcaster, his quaking manservant, and an heiress investigate the mystery of a haunted castle in Cuba.

I hate to say it, but I generally was not a fan of Bob Hope. I didn't dislike him or anything, but his brand of humor is just not mine. Typically I prefer the biting wit of the Marx brothers or Lubitsch. But here, he surprised me (though it was more the plot than him).

We have one of the early Hollywood zombie stories, in the same era as "White Zombie" and "I Walked With a Zombie". This is not as "horror", but should definitely get more notice by the historians because they really make a point of describing Haitian (or Cuban?) voodoo. There is also a scene that I feel must have inspired "The Goonies", though I don't know how to confirm it.
