Freshwater (2016)
Very low budget but interesting movie

Warning: Spoilers
Well, I'm pleased that this is a thriller. I was afraid of a gore movie. I like the slowness of the story, plans that certainly want to put the viewer in the southern languor. It works. The images are very beautiful, landscapes, interiors, characters. I see the care taken in framing, in the camera movement. I love the soundtrack. The piano gives a melancholy note, just like the images. On a negative point: the gator. Impossible to believe. It's really stuck on the image, as a kind of hologram. Not scared for a second. Some cutting were somewhat surprising. For example, at one point in the shop, there is twice the same picture of Melody character.

****Major Spoilers*** For the story, how did the director dare to make the character of Joe Lando, a psycho ? I'm joking, I love it, he's so good in this type of role. A caring character at first then he shows his madness. I was surprised to see Zoe in a "normal" role, which does not need big muscles. She is also talented in comedy. At one point in the final scene, I thought she was going to kill him, but, no, huge welcome surprise, Joe is the one who gets away with it in the end. And the last image of Joe whistling, is jubilant. Awesome. ****End of the major Spoilers****

I saw the reviews on IMDb, the movie was advertised as a horror film, reported on horror websites, I think those who saw it expected gore. And were disappointed, the gator images don't help. It has a very low budget, and the director first movie. So I'll definitely give her a chance and follow her next films.
