"Scat! Darn Catwoman" actually improves on the first chapter, Batman agreeing to become Catwoman's partner so that Robin won't be guilty of murder. The drug cataphrenic, which successfully turned the Boy Wonder into Pussycat's paramour, does the trick on Batman, who immediately turns the sexy Catwoman around and constantly refers to her as 'Cat Baby!' She now has acquired enough cash to head off to the Old Criminals' Home to see Little Al, played by the unbilled Allen Jenkins, longtime gangster of Pre-code Hollywood, who accepts the money for his copy of the plans to break into the Gotham City Mint, his parting line: "criminals just ain't genteel anymore!" Now with virtually everything she's ever wanted, Catwoman watches the cops haul away Robin and Pussycat (Lesley Gore), suggesting the Batcave as a cozy place to lay low until the 5AM rendezvous at the Mint. Once in their 'private paradise,' she's a willing accomplice for whatever Batman desires: "isn't there something that you wanna do, now that we're standing almost mask to mask this way?" He's ready to put his arms around her at the Mint when her henchmen show up, resulting in her priceless outburst: "your timing's in-CREDIBLE!" Unfortunately for Catwoman, Robin is now free of her drugged influence, and Batman too reveals that he was only acting all along, letting her play out her hand to find the chink in the armor at the Mint. She manages to flee in the Batmobile, leading a merry chase along a rooftop, until a 100 foot drop appears before her, a choice between death and prison. Her conversation with Batman now boldly becomes a marriage proposal, being a former criminal capable of aiding his fight against crime. What about Robin: "I've got it, we'll kill him!" Unwilling to turn over a new leaf, Catwoman reaches out to Batman but loses her grip, disappearing underneath the West River, never to show her face again (had the original broadcast order followed through). Cut in syndication is another Lesley Gore song, "Maybe Now," one of her collaborations with brother Michael Gore, already issued as the B-side of her previous single, "Treat Me Like a Lady," which only charted at #115. Robin almost gets to clinch with her Pussycat, who only resists a little bit: "I'm not the type of girl to kiss a boy on the first crime!" But it's the sexually charged banter between Julie Newmar and Adam West that makes this the most outstanding of all the Catwoman stories, at its absolute peak here, the felonious feline living it up believing the man of her dreams has gone crooked!
