Based on a play which in itself became a film 'Shadowlands' follows Narnia writer C.S Lewis as he realises what love is, only when he then in turn loses it.
I wasn't convinced I'd enjoy this film when I put the DVD in, but with such strong performances from Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger I was soon swept along in the warmth and heart of the story.
At times it can make you laugh and then its ending leaves you in tears and it is that balance that to me makes a good film.
I'd highly recommend this film and it is the type of film we rarely see these days. A moving and heartfelt tale.
