Prom (2011)
3/10
Worst Prom Since Prom Night.

Warning: Spoilers
Prom (2011): Dir: Joe Nussbaum / Cast: Aimee Teegarden, Thomas McDonell, DeVaughn Nixon, Danielle Campbell, Yin Chang: Dreadful teen comedy about that hopeful night full of fear and anxiety with regards to acceptance. It is a film full of stupid stereotypes that we have seem in countless film that are about as bad as this one. It compares to the average yet much better Ten Things I Hate About You. I can certainly come up with at least ten things I hate about this film. Director Joe Nussbaum needs better material. He previous made Sleepover and Sydney White, which are every bit as worthless as this piece of junk. Aimee Teegarden plays that hot chick who has no prom date but after her prom decorations are burned in an accidental fire, she is paired up with the class outcast whom she hates but will eventually fall for. Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger had better luck with this in Ten Things I Hate About You because their roles were more appealing. Here we are expected to believe that Teegarden cannot get a date, which is difficult to believe. Thomas McDonell plays the bad ass who turns out to be the misunderstood good guy. DeVaughn Nixon plays the celebrated football player who cheats on his girlfriend. Danielle Campbell plays the so-called nice girl whom Nixon attempts to reunite with while she basically blows off another guy. Yin Chang plays one of Teegarden's friends and she is about as interesting as a locker door slammed in your face. This has all been seen before and it gets boring fast here. Rather than examine ones anticipation for prom night, it becomes one big embarrassing soap opera. Score: 3 / 10
