Normandy: The Great Crusade (1994 TV Movie)
10/10
Haunting Imagery and Outstanding Narration
4 June 2015
One of the most beautifully done and deeply moving documentaries about the Normandy invasion by the allies in June, 1944. Expert use of vintage footage is incorporated skillfully and carefully to illustrate what happened on that history making day. The narration by Normandy veteran Charles Durning is almost poetic and helps this to be a stunningly powerful documentary. His voice echoes his experience and empathy in a way no other narrator possibly could. As the generations pass and those who experienced this day, sacrificing so much, displaying such unbelievable courage, Durning's voice and the haunting imagery of this production will forever memorialize that terrible but glorious day.
