A mysterious outsider's quiet life is turned upside down when he returns to his childhood home to carry out an act of vengeance. Proving himself an amateur assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family.

This film has an excellent use of color and visuals in general. While I cannot put my finger on it, something just makes it very appealing. Your eye is drawn to the whole frame, and not many films capture that quality.

Writer-director Jeremy Saulnier funded production on the film through a successful Kickstarter campaign, which MTV called "the perfect example of what crowdfunding can accomplish." While Kickstarter has its ups and downs (the potato salad incident), this was definitely one of its success stories. If only all crowd-funding ended up with something so nice.
