The Paperboy (2012)

A reporter returns to his Florida home-town to investigate a case involving a death row inmate. My first impression: From an artistic standpoint, there were some plot elements and character developments I didn't think were totally needed. They do however drive the story, which seemed to be their purpose, so I can accept them. The characters in this film have a lot of depth, and that makes all the difference. In the end, the audience gets a casserole of film elements and little of the satisfaction that comes from watching these types of movies. Nothing to laugh at, yet heartfelt from the first frame to the last. 7/10.
