I disagree with most reviewers here. When this show wasn't incredibly boring it was extremely creepy. Although I was only 5 when it got canceled in 1960, it was on in re-runs throughout the 60s. Also I had older brothers who also never liked the show either. Out of the entire family nobody liked it.
We watched Captain Kangaroo, Tom Terrific, Bugs Bunny, Shari Lewis & Lamb Chops, Superman, & even local greats like Commander Tom & Rocketship 7 with Promo the Robot.
Clowns, wooden dummy ventriloquist acts, & puppets on strings were out & scared kids by the 1950s. The cowboy/western theme just made it creepier. Lamb Chops paved the way for more popular & cuter puppet styles like the Muppets.
