great performances all around, especially from Casey Affleck and Woody Harrelson and also Willem Dafoe. the movie gradually builds tension but comes to one of the most anticlimactic endings of recent memory, it could've been done a lot better. the cinematography is decent but grainy, resembling an older film, with the colours dull and bleak seemingly to represent the mood and locale of the film. the plot is good but I feel the directing could be stronger, particularly with a more experienced director. a pretty solid soundtrack too. 7/10 for me. I would probably recommend this film over anything currently in theatres as of December 8th 2013.
