It's a May-December romance, and he couldn't be more in love with his wife -- his wife being the perfect picture of innocence and unconditional love. While temporarily left alone on a camping trip, she is approached by 3 mountain men who torture, beat, rape her and nearly leave her for dead. She's found, he's enraged. She spots "them" later and is literally frozen. This is when he takes matters into his own hands -- tragically all his efforts to defend her horribly backfire on him.
