Blood-C (2011)
Great series

Warning: Spoilers
This has to be one of the goriest of the anime series. A program about a girl (Saya) who is enlisted by her father to become a sort of mediator between the humans and the Elder Bairnes. Elder Bairnes meaning demons who eat humans. But sometimes, these demons take too much liberty and eat too many humans to be desired, hence Saya who is trained using the sword to quell her foes. But somewhere in the middle, is a coffee shop owner who is a friendly type to Saya who gives her coffee and a unique soft marshmallow like treat and listens to her problems now and again. But during her second year in high school, murders heap beyond her control by the elder bairn's, and she must find and fight some of the most vicious creatures she has ever witnessed. However, sometimes after or during a fight, her temples give her pain, as if remembering something horrible in her past. She doesn't even know her own mother's name, if she's ever had one in the first place. Using this knowledge along with a talking spirit dog who is trying to help her memory, Saya realizes that all is not what it seems. This story looks like it is heading to an answer such as -- what if the people she knew were already dead? Living in a town where no outside interference occurs. With all the bloody messes and mass murders, you would think top notch police help would be called in. But, these people might be the product of past murders or sinful people who were condemned to live out their lives unbeknown-st to them that when their number is up, the elder bairn's are called in to clean them up as they see fit. But Saya might have lost her memory in the process of coming to this sleepy town. And in so doing, her father, might have kept the truth from her and taught her the ways of the shrine to stop the elder bairn's because of her unique talents. Such as mentally transforming herself into a perfect killing machine. This is another clue to her past, as in, what if she is an elder bairn? A demon trained to stop demons and protect her friends. This is a great story, twists and turns, lots of blood and gore, and a mysterious shadow in her mind for which she cannot get a hold of yet. Not recommended to those under 14. Highly recommended to those who love this kind of genre.
