Just Ask My Children (2001 TV Movie)

Warning: Spoilers
This TV movie tells the story of a family torn apart by allegations of child abuse. The two children, seized from their parents and put into foster care, are effectively brainwashed by prosecutors, as a result of which their innocent parents receive horrendous prison sentences which they then spend years fighting to overturn.

The story is the thing here. Based on true events, one accepts that it is of necessity abridged, adjusted, amended and otherwise altered for dramatic purposes, but if even the bare bones of the story is true (as, from a little research it appears it is) then the miscarriage of justice here is stunning, and certainly sufficient to carry a feature movie.

Next to the events portrayed, the performances are almost secondary. Yet they are exemplary, with Virginia Madsen, in particularly, playing deliberately and convincingly contrary to her established sultry screen persona.
