The Poof Point (2001 TV Movie)
6/10
Good actors in a predictable story
6 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
The Poof Point, which I find myself finishing just now at 1 AM., is a... Cute... movie; fit for children around the ages of 10 to 13. The ending is as one would expect *spoiler ahead* in which the parents are saved by the combined forces of both the children, at the very last second, after learning that their parents have much more in common with them than the teenagers would ever have thought. The movie is good for family night, but not the one that I would pick out. it is predictable and highly unbelievable with the colorful "high tech" lab equipment, as well as minor points, such as the very convenient no appearance change for the actors and the HUGE skips in ages during every decrease to prominent ages in life (from 40 to 21 to 14 to 7 to 2) were made very obvious. The actor's, though centered around the kids, I must give my applause to the adults for the need to play multiple ages, did well in their roles, it was believable and quite interesting to watch the adults connect with their kids in ways such as the mother's rant about teenage anxiety and the father's ability to do fun bicycle tricks and play the guitar. The movie only seemed to catch my interest because my TV so happened to be on the channel when it began, but otherwise, i would not have continued to watch after 10 minutes of the beginning, because, one, i already knew what the movie was about from the info tab and could figure out the ending and, two, the storyline seems used before, but in different surrounds and situation. It is not the best movie and I see why it's on at 1 AM; not one of Disney's best works, but good for the kids.
