Atlantis Down (2010)
10/10
An excellent small independent movie
17 November 2010
When my husband and I first heard about it, we had very little faith in this project. We live between Williamsburg and D.C. and a couple of friends strongly suggested us to check this out, so we went to Portsmouth the day of the last show. After seeing the film, though, I must confess I was stupefied and confused at the same time. The technical achievement of this movie is phenomenal (assuming it's true it was a low budget). The director, the Italian Max Bartoli, creates a unique look and directs a very eclectic cast of unknown and more experienced actors often forcing them to step out of their comfort zone and still delivering some great work. The soundtrack penned by another Italian, Rino Amato, got me involved since the beginning and deserves to be complimented. The cinematography is incredible as well as the editing and almost every other element in it. Atlantis Down is an amazing independent movie, but it's not for everyone because it makes you think a lot even after you've left the theater!
