Killer hair extensions!
Surprisingly this Jap horror isn't as silly as it sounds. Well at least the hair bits weren't. If only they hadn't gone with a demented and really quite stupid villain, which also resulted in a rather stupid ending.
The highlight of the movie is lead actress, Chiaki Kuriyama, who was most memorable as Gogo Yubari in Kill Bill: Vol. 1. Despite it being a horror, she actually gets to flex some good dramatic chops here in a side plot about her suffering under her sister's psychological abuse. Her evil sister was also played to great devilish effect by Megumi Sato, whoever she is.
Always such a pity when a horror movie's dramatic elements is superior to the horror. It means there's not enough drama to carry the feature as such, and there's not enough horror for any horror fan to watch it again.
