Lake Placid 3 (2010 TV Movie)
6/10
no respecter of persons

We all know what this is about. Giant crocodiles who eat yummy people.

So what makes film like this worth seeing is what the writer and director do with it.

In this case, we are given four sets of isolated characters, each on an odyssey towards each other.

Interesting concept. The dialog is pretty good. There are little bits that look well concocted, and not forced. And the characters are believable.

Some will be turned off by its rejection of Republican atheist idealism, where characters "earn" their survival, and achieve "godhood" status. Thi isn't for the dorks who think some people are gods, some are demi gods, and some are mortal. The characters here are very three dimensional.

In fact, the characters who truly earn our respect, the ones we feel "deserve to live", are the ones who are eventually snuffed out, particularly the strongest and coolest character in the film. This film is a "no respecter of persons", much like the later Alien films, but without the disillusionment.

The survivors are merely survivors by chance, which gives credibility to an incredible situation.
