Worth Watching... Anytime! But Please Ignore Archie Panjabi!!
12 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
We have heard about the 'Senseless Murder' of Daniel Pearl. We have read about it and some of us have also seen the Beheaded Footage on the Internet. But A Mighty Heart goes a little beyond that. This film takes you on an actual journey at those events that were untold or purposely ignored. The film is Majorly Shot on one location (Pakistan). And it tells you about what happened when Daniel Pearl wanted to interview Moulana Sheikh Jilani.

The film has some Extra Ordinary performances by Angelina Jolie (Mariane Pearl), Irfan Khan (Captain) and of course Aly Khan (Omar Saeed Sheikh). The only Bad Point in the movie was Archie Panjabi (Asra Q Nomani). I really have no idea why the Film Maker wanted to cast an Actress who could neither perform nor act. Please note her in the scenes where she spoke (Or Tried To) Urdu. The accent and her way was so Pathetic that even a small child can make out that she is just reading the script! Archie Panjabi is one such actress that brings this whole film in a Bad Light. I though the character of Asra Nomani was very important diamond in this Jewel. But Archie with her worst performance ruins this box of Jewellery.

Watch out for a very small but the most powerful performance of Aly Khan (Omar Saeed) in the movie. This Indian Actor brings life to the character of Omar Saeed. I have see Omar and when i saw Aly Khan performing this part, I said to myself that is this for real? Irfan Khan (Captain) again an Indian Actor has equal footage with Angelina in the film and does his part very well. You will also remember Dan Futterman (Daniel Pearl).

The film was shot on HD and the camera-work was really good. The script and the narration was tight. Those who have read the book my find some important chapters not shown in the film. But i guess that would have been very controversial. Those who also think that Daniel Pearl's beheaded footage is shown in this movie! I am sorry guys! Please drop your hopes. This film really didn't needed it.

I will also request very strongly to also look out for a Documentary Title much similar to A Mighty Heart which is called The Journalist And The Jihadi!
