I Can See You!

"Can You See Us?"

Ghost Whisperer is the story of a girl. A girl who could be just like you. Who moved to a small town to open an antique shop. The only thing difference is she can talk to the dead.

I really feel Ghost Whisperer is highly underrated. I went back through the season to make my slide show, and I noticed so much subtlety, so much beauty, so much exquisitely intelligent writing through the season. I was amazed at how much talent and chemistry the show has being given it.

Ghost Whisperer to me is the best show of it's genre ever made (Quite possibly), at least from my subjective perspective, I feel the most honest emotional energy coming from Ghost Whisperer.

It goes to the writing, depth of emotion of Jennifer and supporting cast and writers and everyone involved down to the music, who invoke so much into the characters, the stories, the music, everything.

One wonders what is deeply tormenting Melinda at the soul of this show, this unspoken sorrow weighs on her she never speaks of.

It's truly haunting, beautiful, and palpable.

I love when a show can leave things unspoken.

In the simplest of definitions, thoughts and emotions, Ghost Whisperer is raw speculative and timeless.

I was very impressed by the series.

Sure it wasn't perfect in my mind, a few rough patches, but thoroughly engrossing and well crafted.

Usually they break out the big guns for a finale, but I've enjoyed the entire season immensely. Emotional, heartfelt, smart.

One bit of dialog really strikes me from the pilot episode.

"It must be really great to have supernatural powers." Michael Adams says to Bellinda, who soddenly exclaims, "Not really."

It's a line you know is coming, but is as equally as effective if you didn't, because it's perfect.

I recommend to anyone, even if you've seen the episodes, go back and watch the pilot again. It's really great writing, and I don't mean just the dialog, but the story and it's built.

Ghost Whisperer is it's own show, with a very creative crew of writers. I believe the show just keeps getting better. Watch the pilot again, it's very subtle and cleverly crafted.

I can't wait til season 2.

The sad thing I find with many people is that they simply do not give Ghost Whisperer a fair shot because they assume many things about Jennifer Love Hewitt.

I talked to my brother about this at length, and the assumptions seem to be quite many, naive, and ignorant, as well as seemingly hypocritical, , no offense to my brother! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions!

Some opinions I heard:

1. Jennifer is superficial 2. The show isn't cerebral enough 3. Because Jennifer has "distracting" physical endowments, it must be trying to make up for bad acting. 4. Dream sequences considered to be shallow 5. "Medium kicks ass, I hate JLH" "JLH---just so phony" "seems like a prissy"

I am a little disheartened by that but not really. Everyone likes their own things, and will have their own opinions, though I find those who judge so harshly are generally being hypocritical, remember, we judge about others the things we dislike about ourselves.

I for one disagree with all 5 points, but having seen the entire season 1 of Ghost Whisperer, have found JLH to be a very sensitive spirit. You can't fake the depth of emotion she portrays on this show! I mean you can really see her character is tormented by what she knows, she takes it to the next level that's for certain!

Also the writing, the effects, the music, they are all open hearted and intelligently written, at least I feel this to be true!

I think people making these negative claims are probably going to be primarily those seeking the cerebral-ended side of the occult, and not the emotional, new age, open hearted style which Ghost Whisperer excels at with startling clarity and honesty.

Medium is a great show. I love Arquette and Weber, always have. But, they're older, more seasoned, and honestly they're more cerebral, less act-on-emotion types... and when Arquette does act from emotion on Medium, she tends to get a bit whiny.

Jennifer is a feeling actress, aesthetic, emotional, spiritual.

So you see, they both have their qualities! To refuse one or the other does a disservice to them and yourself. For to be balanced, you must strive to water the garden of mind and heart in equal measure!

I find both shows to be terrific with a talented cast, and worthy message, especially in this age of technological and spiritual change.
