Music, by the way.
5 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I probably can't add much to the other comments made on this movie, but I wanted to point out the effects of music on this film. I've seen it in two different versions, the one released through Kino Video's "Avant Garde" boxed set, and the "Unseen Cinema" boxed set released by many anthologies. The Unseen Cinema edition is much better.

On this version it preserves an attempt to remake the original soundtrack to the film, one that involves fans and wires and a lot of rather absurd musical tricks. As a fan of experimental music as well as film, this Dada approach to sound mechanics is much more appealing. It also makes the film itself feel much more absurd and random than compelling. Concerning people's tastes, the two approaches have their positives and negatives, but this at least is an attempt to be authentic.
