The only reason that I gave this movie 5/10 is because I watched it with friends and we had THE BEST time ripping this movie apart and cracking up during the most 'suspenseful, scary' moments. It may hold sentimental value for previous generations and be good compared to contemporary horror films, but for today's youth it's a comedy, if anything. I heard that a bulk of the real violence was edited out so that it could pass the censors, which makes the torture scenes ill-becoming. All of my friends agreed that this movie has absolutely no denouement! It just ends and it's hard to pick out the climax. The two characters (and baby) are thrilled that they killed the cannibalistic inbreds and literally jump for joy. Lest they forget that they're still stuck in the middle of the desert with no food and not a modicum of hope. The movie was definitely full of holes that distract any audience from the plot. Perhaps the remake is better; I haven't seen it yet.
