10/10
Winner of Many Awards
24 August 2006
This truly terrific anime series has won many (by that I mean MANY): Countries include Japan itself, Saudi Arabia, Iran, France, England, and Canada.

As far as I remember it was winner of Best Animated Series many times in Iran, as well as being winner of Best Visual Effects/Graphics in an Animated Feature

Canada: It was the official election of Toronto Film Festival first when it began in 1980, I remember clearly (I was there when this happened)- two consecutive years

Arabia: Best Animated Series

etc.

The series was first rated G by all countries, later (1990s) it was rated a hard-PG by both Japan and France. The rating reason in France was (if I am getting the translation right): Rated PG for intense depictions of thematic elements and sad themes.

The series is about a girl (Perrine) who decides to travel with her mother to her grandfather after her father dies. Perrine's father is the son of his grandfather, but now that the grandfather's son is dead, he is not interested in seeing her Indian daughter-in-law nor his granddaughter. Perrine and her mother decide to journey to England and meet with the great/rich grandfather.
