A story that could have been told briefly. Jennifer Lopez was pregnant when she lost control of her car and her passenger husband was killed. She suffers abuse at the hands of her boyfriend and returns to her father-in-law, a really aging Robert Redford with the grandchild he never knew he had.
In the meantime, Redford is taking care of his cow-poke friend Morgan Freeman, who has been ailing since he was mauled by a bear, currently caged up, while Redford, drunk, offered little help.
The abusive boyfriend naturally follows Lopez to the Redford ranch and we have the modern day "High Noon" showdown.
We also have the ethical Freeman, who has eased into supporting roles, urging the bear's release.
This slow moving film is cliché ridden. Waitress Cameryn Manheim lost a daughter in a drowning accident.
By the end, granddaughter loves Redford, the town sheriff gets rid of the abusive boyfriend and becomes Lopez's love interest and Redford and Freeman sit on the porch contemplating about life.
I contemplated why this film took 1:42 to unravel.
