Undiscovered (2005)
6/10
From someone who enjoyed this movie.

I fell in love with Steven Strait while watching Sky High about a week ago. I looked him up and found he was in Undiscovered, so I rented the movie today and watched it. I didn't see a trailer for the movie, but I wanted to see it not only because of Strait, but also because I saw Ashlee Simpson, Carrie Fisher, and Shannyn Sossamon were in it. I disagree with comments about this being a terrible movie, and do not understand why they thought so. Strait delivered a performance way beyond his years. Simpson's character was very flat and had almost no emotion, but she fit the movie and played the part well. Sossamon portrayed a Brazilian model, and her accent was on and off, and was a little annoying. She has done much better work. Fisher was the mother figure to the character Brier, and did a wonderful job. The story was realistic and believable, not some sugar-coated story about the rise and fall of a musician's fame. The directing was a little choppy, but Meiert Avis is not a movie director, he's a music video director, and that fit perfectly with the movie plot. The music was outstanding. Simpson and Strait sounded great together. I really enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in music.
