"Chrystal" must of gone directly to video. I don't remember it being in the theaters. O.k., we know Billy Bob comes from the land of white trash. They say it in the movie, so I can say it here. But does he have to serve up the worst of the hillbilly behavior? The addition of a couple of sociology students who are chronicling the music of the South is laughable. I expected more from the Slingblade author. But he just doesn't seem to have it in him. Lisa Blount does a good job. Movie leaves you wondering 'what is the point'? Real formula writing here, everything is neatly tied up at the end, probably by some UCLA film school grad.
