Wesley Snipes continues his decline into the DTV market, a tragic fall from grace, meaning he probably won't get the Oscar nomination that he was quite capable of getting. The tragic things is Snipes is too good an actor to be doing DTV action films. Seagal, Van Damme and Lundgren you would say aren't the greatest thesps so doing these simplistic roles suits them well, but Snipe is in no way going to be stretched, which is a shame.
7 Seconds is pretty perfunctory stuff with Snipes playing a thief who botches a job and of course has to spend the movie clearing his name and trying to retrieve what he lost, which happens to be a priceless Van Gogh. He ends up being aided by former Eastender (British Soap) Tamzin Outhwaite, as he gets into some bouts of fisticuffs and car chases.
While the film isn't great and director Simon Fellows, along with his editor go a little overboard in the MTV styled shenanigans, it marks an improvement over Snipes last effort Unstoppable, and indeed even an improvement on the dire Blade Trinity where Snipes clearly was half asleep. Here surprisingly Wesley has found some inspiration and puts in the effort, making the film that bit more watchable. The film has some neat action, particularly car chases, while the martial art bits may are brief but slickly done and performed with Snipes trademark swiftness.
