"Politically correct" Brits
14 August 2005
I have't seen this film, or maybe, as a kid, got some glimpses of it when it was shown on the Soviet TV channels. But I'd like to see it because I was born near Kharkov (now Kharkiv), and my grandmothers, my mother and my father, my uncles and aunts, and other relatives lived through that war. One of my grandfathers was killed in action in 1941 defending Ukraine, his remains never recovered, the other one survived in that fierce fighting which left about ten million of the Ukrainian soldiers and civilians dead.

Still, what is very strange for me to find out is the fact that in 1943 the Brits were so "politically correct" that they "mistranslated" the original Soviet title of the film "Battle for Our Soviet Ukraine":Also Known As: Battle for Soviet Russia (UK) (literal English title) Ukraine in Flames (USA)

God, save the Queen ! ...And all the Ukrainians from such "translators".
