I was an Airborne Infantryman in Vietnam...67-68. In my experience the movie also, without intent, accurately portrays the macho-mindset that exists in the military. It also shows homophobia at it's worst and demonstrates the abject failure of the "don't ask don't tell" policy without setting out to do so.
