Coming Out (2000)
8/10
Real, Funny, ... real funny
26 August 2002
This little goldmine from writer/director Ji Woon Kim starts with a young woman who asks her brother to videotape her confession. The brother thinks this is all a joke and unnecessarily ridiculous. The woman nevertheless insists on proceeding on telling on tape what she's been hiding to her family (including her brother) all along. She is coming out...

This simple plot who takes on an interesting twist right from the start deals with a subject matter often explored but never with such attempt at realism and straightforward storytelling. The situations are at the same time ordinary and incredible and this creates a humorous mood and a believable lot of characters and interactions. Awed, soar from some good laughs, perplex, wanting more, yet knowing that its time for it to end. This is how you may feel after this delightful 40 mins confession.

If you have the chance to catch it, see it. It's different.
