If Blair Witch had the witch from this movie...

...then The Blair Witch Project might have been scarier than it was. At least, there would have been a face to the Blair Witch. As far as this movie goes, that's about the best I could think to say. I rented the movie from pay-per-view and I wish I had picked something else. Two scenes that had some semblance of fright factor in this film: close to the start of the movie, the young boy is hiding in the bathtub because he knows the spirit of the old lady is in the house, and the camera finds her on the wall above the bathroom door. That was about the scariest scene in the whole film. And maybe the second scariest scene was when the mask finally comes off. In the hands of another director, (John Carpenter, maybe?) this could have been so much more, but it's no more than a bad TV-movie. This will be better, though, (at least for TV viewers that bother to waste 90 minutes watching it) when it hits The Sci-Fi Channel, because at least then there will be commercial breaks for relief. One final observation: the film is incredibly short - like 75 minutes- but it seemed like forever.
