Original, Funny and Unreleased?!
19 May 2002
Why is it that there seems to be such a small demand for distributing companies to release what are the best films out there?!

Admitedly, this movie does not star any house-hold names, that would attract audiences near and far on the basis of their lorals.

Nor does it involve any huge explosions, or cutting edge CGI, or another twist ending (that has become so popular in films nowadays).

What this movie is, on the other hand, is an original and smart approach to the world of dating and sex.

Instead of recycling the tried and tested recipe of involving many teenagers (all with their own individual character traits) in highly ridiculous situations, and letting realism suffer at the expense of cheap laughs (usually delivered by Seann William Scott); "30, Still Single: Contemplating Suicide" derives it's humour more on the wit that is evident in real-life scenarios.

Employing a style of humour that is very reminiscent of "Swingers", this movie manages to take a very light subject matter, that has been more than over-done by Hollywood; and deliver it in a fresh and highly enjoyable manner.

It is just a shame that this film has never been given the light of day that it deserves. I can only hope that a DVD release is in line for this title, as it will finally give the masses a chance to appreciate a funny film, that is bound to become a cult-classic.
