A Tango dancers view on the movie: Nothing against Saura. Carmen and Flamenco are excellent dance movies (where the latter rather is a documentary, but a good one). However, with this movie Saura shows that he knows nothing about the Tango - much in contrast to Sally Potter with her inside view on the Tango culture "The Tango Lesson". Even his choice of choreographers reflects this ignorance.
Thus, the movie is a collection of nicely photographed cliches. Most dancing is rather artificial, the story is weak and boring, and the original music by Schifrin is a bad copy of Piazzolla.
