I was in the process of reading the book as the movie was being televised. I taped it for future viewing until I finished the novel. The book was to say the least not one of Puzos best. Then I watched the movie on tape. It wasn't any better than the book. The overall story just didn't have that Mario Puzo Mafia "ZING" to it like The Godfather had so it left a talented corps of actors with little to work with.
