A Friend's Betrayal (1996 TV Movie)
Silly nonsense with an uninspiring ending.

Warning: Spoilers
Good performances by Sharon Lawrence and hunk Brian Austin Green made this silly romance watchable. Their performances showed intelligence and honesty. Unfortunately, the story was trite and pretty boring as well as predictable through the eyes of an older woman/younger man theme. The writers saw fit to make everyone around these two well-matched lovers, narrowminded and selfish in their needs. The boy's mother was downright mean and shrewish. How old fashioned can you get. The boy's father was at least questioning the lovers' feelings. And that's what I felt was lacking in the script - a sense of respect for feelings of those in love, no matter what their age. It seemed to me that they were meant for each other, although I felt Green should have fought for his lady-love and not let her get away so easily. And then to run back home to his nagging mother, somewhat wimpish father and younger sister, the one in the family that really cared, was bad judgement in the writer's scenario. Too bad. I was rooting for the lovers. Unfortunately the clutching family won. Hopefully, he left them within a week's time and went to California after his true love.
