Memorable dialog, ...Funny, touching, great cast!

Warning: Spoilers
I have seen this film so many times, and I still find great little details in the direction of the cast. The dialog is so witty, and the characters so dimensional. You really believe these ladies gather annually for the James Dean Reunion. Sandy Dennis gives such an unforgettable performance as "Mona" the disturbed, tragic and often hysterical character of her career. Juanita as the Five and Dime owner is a real hoot, and so real. Cher is great as Mona the youngest of the bunch.... Kathy Bates is so funny in this and such a party girl! Edna Louise is perfect as a dit-ball barefoot and pregnant. Robert Altman created such an environment, you feel like you are there in that dusty old town with these women going down memory lane. Karen Black throws in a powerful performance as a sex-changed Jo-Anne who befriended Mona as a young man and impregnated her. Truly a gem in the Altman collection of films. This is definitely one of his best.
