Dale Earnhardt Jr. used a pair of pink baby Converse to announce that he and wife Amy are expecting a daughter — their first child! And the way the couple found out about the sex of the baby is even more adorable.
“You get an email with a link to click to find out the gender. We actually sent that to Amy’s sister in Texas and she ordered the shoes and mailed them to us. We opened the box on the front doorstep,” said Earnhardt, who publicly spoke about becoming a father for the first time on Tuesday during an interview with NBC Sports Network.

As of late, every major fest has included some degree of television in its programming. But Tribeca is demonstrating a new level of commitment to episodic content with Tribeca TV, an entire festival dedicated to the small screen (to use an increasingly antiquated term).

Also getting special previews are Season 2 of the Emmy-nominated “Better Things,” the fourth season of “Gotham,” the upcoming Sundance TV miniseries “Liar,” and NBC’s revival of classic sitcom “Will & Grace.”

If you ever thought that daytime lifestyle shows needed more of Jane Krakowski belting, then Amy Sedaris has some wonderful news for you.
truTV released the first look at Sedaris’ upcoming domestic design show satire “At Home with Amy Sedaris” on Thursday, and it’s the kind of surreal you’d expect from a show with her name on it.
At first, what seems like a simple Martha Stewart-esque dissection of crafts materials and interior sprucing becomes a full-fledged musical number with a handy mnemonic for using glue on different surfaces. Krakowski even gets to show off her Broadway chops in the process.

Well, you guys, it was bound to happen sometime.
On The Big Bang Theory Season 10 Episode 18, "The Escape Hatch Identification," Raj finally has to move out of his apartment because of his financial problems, and he ends up taking Sheldon's old room.
That brings up some difficult feelings for Sheldon, and it might just reveal something about Penny and Leonard's relationship as well.
As far as the show is concerned, though, Raj taking Sheldon's old room is pretty genius.
It feels like a revolving door, much like Leonard's mom points out, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's fun to watch these characters interact as roommates, and Raj taking Sheldon's old room opens up a lot of possibilities.

Judge Grove is back!
I've missed his sardonic comments, insistence on proper procedure, and surprising flashes of empathy.
He returned as part of a smartly executed, high-concept story on Major Crimes Season 5 Episode 16, and I couldn't be more thrilled.
Between an unusual format, an interesting story and Judge Grove's trademark sarcasm, "Quid Pro Quo" had a lot to offer.
But before getting to all that, there's a burning question I have to ask: What was Amy thinking, getting involved with Mark Hickman again?
Mark Hickman first appeared on Major Crimes Season 4 Episode 19. He was obnoxious, untrustworthy, and caused Amy a boatload of trouble because she kept sneaking off to meet him despite orders from Sharon to stay away from him.
So why, exactly, did she think this time would be any different?
Hobbs: It doesn't matter that you were cleared, Amy. No matter what he instructs the jury, they won't forget.

When Chicago author Amy Krouse Rosenthal set out to share her and her husband Jason Rosenthal’s incredible love story in an essay titled “You May Want to Marry My Husband,” she touched millions of readers worldwide.
Her remarkable love letter — featured in The New York Times “Modern Love” section — was less about getting a response than helping him start the next chapter of his life, as Amy, 51, is facing a terminal ovarian cancer diagnosis. And no one was more moved by the essay than her devoted husband of 26 years.

I think it is very important to start this story with the fact that I have a huge crush on Amy Schumer. Yes, she is a guilty pleasure of mine. I get it, she does not have a perfectly skinny body like say Emma Stone, Emma Watson, or Emma Roberts, but I find her much more attainable than any of the Emmas. To me, Amy is the hottest girl at the bar. She tells jokes, and is the one that all your friends like. My type of girl.
She is the American Girl, and who better to represent an American classic, such as Barbie, besides her. So I was thrilled when THR broke the news that she will indeed be the lead in the upcoming live-action Barbie film.

It’s been such a good year at the movies that I’m a little bit surprised by the degree to which I’m approaching tomorrow night’s Academy Awards ceremony with something resembling… disinterest. And again, it’s not necessarily the movies. It’s hard to remember a year when there wasn’t at least one obvious howler among the five, or now five-to-10 nominees—just by turning to random pages in Robert Osborne’s 70 Years of Oscar—The Official History of the Academy Awards I am reminded that The Turning Point, Midnight Express, Fatal Attraction and Mississippi Burning were all lauded by the Academy with Best Picture nominations. This year all eight movies nominated are, in my eyes, worthy of some measure of honor, including Room, my choice for the movie of the year. Yet I can’t remember the last time—could it have been 1991?—when I...

Those matching Dior dresses are going to be significantly less adorable when one of them is covered in red wine and tear stains. Jennifer Lawrence hyped best friend and Golden Globe rival Amy Schumer's awards-show chances so hard on Seth Meyers last night, it's going to be real awkward when one of them actually walks away the winner. J.Law already has two Golden Globes, so you would hope Amy will get to take one home, but still. No one wants to lose to someone in the exact same outfit as you, no matter how beautiful and successful you are. It's like a stress dream brought to horrible life.

That figure is better than the Friday take of 2008's The Incredible Hulk, which brought in $21.5M. There's an asterix on that number, however, as the big green guy had a per-screen average of $6,125 on 3,505 screens. An immense film, looming in tragedy, an infuriating portrait of how celebrity warps artistry and how wealth warps love and how suffering trumps everything. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

She told us. She told us flat out how it would be. She told us she was a mess. She told us she was self-destructive. She told us fame would kill her. She said it in her lyrics — not even halfway, not in any way metaphorical or sidewise. She said it in interviews. That’s all right here in the astonishing documentary Amy, one of the best films of the year so far: the sound recordings journalists made while talking to her, the lyrics right up there on the screen so there isn’t even any need to try to unravel her sometimes gloriously muddied jazzy elocution.

Child pageants are easy spoof targets, since most of them -- especially the reality TV versions -- already seem like parodies of themselves. So maybe "Inside Amy Schumer" could've gone even further with its "Babies & Bustiers" sketch, which went for a "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" style mocking of "Toddlers & Tiaras," with maybe a touch of "Dance Moms," and the intriguing twist of Amy's character suffering from "Benjamin Button's disease."
At least that's how her mother, played by the inimitable Jennifer Coolidge, put it. Amy's character actually has the opposite problem -- instead of aging in reverse like Brad Pitt's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" character, she's a 6-year-old who happens to look like the grown-up Amy Schumer. This makes things awkward during a pageant when a wardrobe malfunction rips part of her top off.
The 5-minute video ends with "To Be Continued unfortunately..." so, if you watched the show,...

Veep, Season 4, Episode 2: “East Wing”
Teleplay by Kevin Cecil, Roger Drew, and Andy Riley, Story by Armando Iannucci, Kevin Cecil, Roger Drew, and Andy Riley
Directed by Stephanie Laing
Airs Sundays at 10:30pm (Et) on HBO
The fourth season premiere of Veep proved that the show’s change was only superficial, with Meyer continuing to face the same roadblocks and powerlessness as President that characterised her time as Vice-president, only in larger doses. This week’s episode once again proves that point, while showing that Meyer herself has also not changed much, in another hilarious episode that allows several members of the cast to shine.
Gary and Selina’s blowup is an intriguing aspect of the episode. The season premiere indicated that the one person whose job was negatively impacted by the transition to the Oval Office was Gary. Thus, it’s not surprising to see...

On July 23, 2011, the British music industry lost one of its most promising young talents when Amy Winehouse passed away at the age of 27. It was a tragic, all-too-surprising turn of events that left fans of the Back to Black singer inconsolable; though her life, battle with mental illness and stunted musical career will underpin Asif Kapadia’s upcoming documentary, Amy.
As the award-winning director behind the rather excellent racing drama, Senna, there’s already an air of excitement surrounding Kapadia’s latest outing. Utilizing archive footage from Winehouse’s childhood right up to her death from alcohol poisoning in 2011, the 90-minute feature will explore much of the popstar’s life on and off the stage, including her notorious clashes with the paparazzi in the latter stages of her career.

In a parallel universe, Jim O'Heir could have spent the last seven seasons on "Parks and Recreation" not as office punching bag Garry/Jerry/Larry/Terry/Garry, but as Ron Swanson. That's the role he auditioned for at the start, and while he didn't get it, Mike Schur and Greg Daniels liked his audition enough to hire him as a background character with the potential to do more, much like Stanley, Phyllis and Meredith on "The Office." It was a move that paid out well for all involved, and tonight's second episode — the last regular installment of "Parks" before next week's series finale — had a crowning moment of sorts for O'Heir's long-suffering alter ego. (I reviewed both of tonight's episodes here.) Earlier today, we spoke about the ups, downs, and many names of Garry Gergich, the experience of being a part of this great series, as well as the Kickstarter...

Amy Pascal, the Sony exec whose emails were made public as part of a hacking scandal at the studio, is to leave her co-chairman position to launch a new production venture at the studio.

One of Jake Peralta’s most endearing characteristics is how he has romanticized his desk job into a world where he can always be the hero, burning the bad guy with fury and finesse while munching on stock action movie catchphrases. Adding to Jake’s infatuation with the tropes of the genre, Brooklyn Nine-Nine sometimes calls back to the conventions of a straight police procedural and tries to give them a knowing wink.
While Jake pays reference to that giddy fantasy world a few times in “Payback,” the comedy expands the fun to include Amy this week. The Golden Globes would like to be taken seriously as an influence on both the Oscars and the Emmys, and while there's no denying that the ceremony has recently become imbued with more importance than might merit an awards show voted on by a small group of foreign weirdos, the most memorable Globes moments have little to do with the trophies themselves. Admit it: You're not watching to see who wins; you're watching to see what Tina and Amy will say, or to find out which tipsy star will get lost on the way to the stage! With that in mind, then, let's not waste too much time forecasting who will win Globes this weekend, and instead discuss who should win a prize — any prize. Once again, there were many things to recommend Friday (December 12) night's episode of "The Amazing Race." Yes, it was an episode that drew much of its drama and I know lots of fans hate that kind of thing. There were travel blunders and accompanying hubris. There were clue reading miscues and clue misplacing blunders. But it was also a Leg that featured a few difficult tasks and that found all of the teams competing hard for a place in the Final 3, even risking their health in the Manila heat. There was dehydration and a contestant fighting through an injury. It was close and competitive in the way that you want an "Amazing Race" Leg to be. But... For the fourth time in 11 "Amazing Race" episodes this season, the Leg ended without a team going home. Presumably this is the answer for the question of how the Save would be implemented.
