Like the experimental “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” before it, upcoming horror movie The Run will be taking an interactive approach, allowing You to decide the outcome of events.
Deadline reports today that Roxanne McKee (“Game of Thrones”) and George Blagden (“Vikings”) will star in The Run, which will be directed by Paul Raschid (Ten Dates).
The site details, “The interactive element will involve the viewer being asked to make high-stakes decisions for the protagonist at various points throughout the story that will affect the direction of the narrative and in some cases, result in early death.”
Here’s the plot synopsis for The Run: “The story is set on a remote running trail, where a famous fitness influencer’s morning run becomes a race for survival when she is hunted by seemingly motiveless killers. She meets local farmer Matteo along the way and the viewer’s choices determine whether they live or die.

Viewers can choose the outcome of the characters in this cleverly assembled art-world thriller available on PC, console and your local screen
Interactive cinema has existed since the 1967 Czech film Kinoautomat, but remains niche, despite a brief flare-up of interest around Charlie Brooker’s choose-your-own-adventure Black Mirror episode Bandersnatch. British director Paul Raschid – ambitiously for a 30-year-old – specialises in tending these mind-boggling gardens of forking paths. His latest The Gallery is a trenchant and thoughtful post-Brexit treatise that can be played on PCs and consoles, but it’s also doing the rounds in cinemas, where the group experience – including voting by glowstick – could work something like a referendum on modern Britain, given the film’s state-of-the-nation bent.
The Gallery has two separate but symmetrical timelines in 1981 and 2021. Plus ça change: both spotlight a reeling and fractured Britain in which the Argyle Manor gallery, about to put on a portrait exhibition,...

A toxic cloud of pollution has swallowed the earth, killing untold numbers. The world’s nations have dissolved, with all power now in the hands of giant corporations. The rich retreat to sealed biodomes while the poor choke and starve. On the space station Rubikon, Hannah (Julia Franz Richter), Gavin (George Blagden), and Dimitri (Mark Ivanir) weigh the fate of the planet’s survivors. Should these crewmembers risk their own lives on a rescue mission to the surface, or ignore the old world to build a new one of safety and solitude, living off the station’s sophisticated algae symbiosis system? Against the vast canvas of the cosmos, three people with different worldviews debate their moral responsibility to the species, all while grappling with the timely agony of isolation.

Survivors of an environmental catastrophe battle to save Planet Earth from a space station in this tense drama
Although set in the nearish future in space, this multilingual sci-fi film feels quite of the moment, imbued with guilt and angst about environmental catastrophe, but also suffused with a sense of helplessness. It’s 2056 and, after the collapse of the world’s ecosystem, rich people live in air domes that keep them safe from the contaminated atmosphere. Attempts to find a safe place to live off the planet have failed, as anyone sensible could have told us they would do. On the Rubikon, the last space station, they are working on experiments with algae that might present a solution to the problems down below.
However, members of the station’s small skeleton crew, led by German-born Captain Hannah Wagner (Julia Franz Richter), seem to have competing private agendas. Eventually, everything goes...

IFC Midnight has taken North American rights to Magdalena Lauritsch’s sci-fi disaster movie, Rubikon. A theatrical and PVOD date will be set for this year.
In the film, the crew of a space station, Hannah (Julia Franz Richter), Gavin (George Blagden) and Dimitri (Mark Ivanir) must decide whether they risk their lives to get back home during a global catastrophe and search for survivors or stay safe in the sophisticated station’s algae symbiosis system, which makes them fully self-reliant. Rubikon questions whether we have the right to seal ourselves off in safety and ignorance from the ongoing problems of the world, as three people with three very different worldviews collide in this pressure-cooker environment millions of miles away.
The deal for the film was negotiated by IFC Films’ Manager of Acquisitions Adam Koehler with The Playmaker Munich’s Deputy Head of Sales & Acquisitions Moritz Hemminger on behalf of the filmmakers.

To base a film on making philosophical ideas is a tricky thing. First it has to be aimed at a big enough audience who may not understand the concept, but then it could alienate the ones who truly understand it. The Philosophers is a movie that raises a few interesting questions, but proves in the end where true flaws are found.
When a philosophy teacher challenges his class of graduating seniors with choosing ten people who would survive in an underground shelter to repopulate the earth once an apocalypse hit it raises many questions. One of the most important one being just what influence the teacher himself is having.

Exclusive: George Blagden and Anna Popplewell will lead the cast of The Gallery, a UK interactive hostage-thriller project that will also be delivered separately as a linear film.
The feature contains two narratives, one following a female protagonist which takes place in London in 1981, and one following a male protagonist which takes place in London 2021. They both depict an art gallery curator being held hostage by a portrait painter who threatens to detonate a bomb unless their demands are met.
The project comes from director and writer Paul Raschid, who last year helmed the interactive romantic comedy Five Dates, which starred Doctor Who actress Mandip Gill and Vikings actress Georgia Hirst. That film was released on platforms including Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo and Steam.
The Gallery will be completed by October 2021. Shooting took place in February and March this year.

Top Italian film outfit Rai Cinema on Wednesday sounded an upbeat post-pandemic note as it unveiled a slate of 20 upcoming titles to exhibitors and press, comprising new works by prominent Italian directors such as Nanni Moretti, Gianfranco Rosi, and Susanna Nicchiarelli alongside their U.S. acquisitions — most notably Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
“Italy will be the only country in the world where this film will not be distributed by a major company,” boasted Rai’s head of distribution Luigi Lo Nigro, referring to Scorsese’s murder mystery drama set to star Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Apple is reportedly in the process of partnering on “Flower Moon” with Paramount. The Italy deal between Paramount Rai and Leone Film Group had been previously announced.

British actor George Blagden, who played Louis Xiv in period drama “Versailles,” has been cast opposite Belarussian actress and model Caterina Shulha (“Hotel Gagarin”) in “The Land of Dreams,” an English-language movie musical set in 1920s New York being produced by Italy’s Leone Film Group for the international market.
Shooting has just started at Bulgaria’s Nu Boyana Film Studios on the ambitious and unusual pic being directed by Italian newcomer Nicola Abbatangelo. Producer Marco Belardi, who heads Leone group’s Lotus Production shingle, decided to take a gamble on the project after being impressed by a 20-minute short directed by Abbatangelo, which the feature will expand on.
Until a few years ago, musicals did not get much traction in Italy, but that changed with Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land,” which opened the 2016 Venice Film Festival and proved a hit for Leone, its Italian distributor.

"You slept with her, right!?" North of Two has debuted an official trailer for indie drama titled How You Look at Me, from filmmaker Gabriel Henrique Gonzalez. This "scandalous love triangle" film is about an old mansion in rural France. When an Englishman arrives to take care of the estate his father left him, he meets a captivating and mysterious woman. Their affair sows discord in the relationship between the man and his fiancé until he learns of the past that the two women had once shared. Starring George Blagden, Anna Åström, and Ellie Turner. If you're into sappy romance, maybe you'll enjoy this. But it just looks so cheesy and so obvious and so boring. It's headed straight-to-vod this month if anyone is into it anyway. Here's the first trailer (+ poster) for Gabriel Henrique Gonzalez's How You Look at Me, from YouTube: Charlie (George Blagden) spends his days...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday.
This week’s question: What is your favorite depiction of a monarch/royal character on TV?
*Yes, the monarch can be fictional and not based in our world. They can appear anywhere: historically adjacent dramas, cartoons, time-travel shows, fantasy series, comedies, sci-fi series, etc. They just need to rule!
Allison Keene (@KeeneTV), Collider
This question has provoked a lot of anxiety, because where do I even start? First with the classic choices: Claire Foy is exceptional in “The Crown,” of course, but Jodie Comer was really dazzling in “The White Princess.” George Blagden and Alexander Vlahos make “Versailles’” French court a delight, and Tom Hiddleston was swoon-worthy perfection as the young playboy Hal who becomes the venerable Henry V in “The Hollow Crown.” And then fictional as well? It’s the beginning of the end. Over its first two seasons,”Versailles” has built up a loyal fanbase for its portrait of the rise, achievement and now legacy of Louis Xiv, Versailles Sun King, who turned France into the most powerful nation-state in Europe.

If anybody wants to explain the extensive, intricate and French governmental aid system for cinema and TV, they could do worse than watch “Versailles,” an English-language Canal Plus Creation Originale and one of the French pay TV operators’s most ambitious series ever, whose third and final season opens Canneseries April 4, before premiering on Canal Plus in France on April 23.
