Dean Daughtry, the keyboardist best known as a co-founder of the hitmaking soft rock band Atlanta Rhythm Section, has died Thursday. He was 76.
Daughtry’s death was confirmed by Steve Stone, the band’s guitarist, on Facebook where he said Daughtry died of natural causes.
“We’re sad today to announce the passing of our long-time, and original member Dean “Ox” Daughtry,” the group’s Facebook page said. “For 49 years he never missed a gig, until his health forced him to retire a couple of years ago, cutting short his goal of 50 years. He was like a Bulldog, but his friends knew him as “Ox” Our hearts go out to his wife Donna, and his family. We’re gonna’ miss you, Ol’ Buddy!”

“I’m something different.” So says Ghostface to Gale Weathers in the new trailer for Scream VI, reinforcing the “New York. New rules.” tagline. And while that may be true, there’s certainly no shortage of references to the past. The trailer reveals Ghostface’s macabre shine featuring wardrobe and props from both past killers and their victims.
Here are all the Scream VI Easter Eggs we spotted in the new trailer…
Steve’s varsity jacket – Ghostface’s first victim in the original Scream is Casey’s boyfriend, Steve. His Woodsboro High School varsity jacket is on a mannequin along with the duct tape that was used to bound him and, it appears, the actual chair he was murdered in.
Stu’s robe – I know a lot of fans want to see Stu return, but all signs point to him being dead. The Hugh Hefner-esque red robe that he...

Steve Stone has criticised Mike Ashley’s running of Newcastle United.
The Magpies’ former assistant manager used Sky Sports’ Goals On Sunday to air his grievances about his time at St James’ Park, where he was part of Chris Hughton, Alan Pardew and John Carver’s back room staff.
Stone, a former England international during his playing days, lambasted the owner for selling United’s best players and not replacing them, he said: “When you’re selling the likes of Demba Ba & Cabaye and you’re not replacing them, the writing is on the wall. We used to look at the board on the wall at the players we had and say ‘this squad isn’t good enough’.
“We thought we haven’t got enough numbers, we haven’t got enough quality, and where are the goals going to come from?”

John Carver claims he had an “opportunity” to stay on at Newcastle United.
The 50-year-old oversaw one of the most disastrous runs in The Magpies’ history during the second half of the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League season, but says the club wanted him to stay.
If what Sir Bobby Robson’s former assistant claims is true, it is likely that John, and Steve Stone, would have been offered the chance to stay on as part of Steve McClaren’s back room staff. But that makes the fact they pair were both sacked, all the more stranger. Carver claims that he, and Stone, left on their own terms – even though quite literally the entire ‘press pack’ reported they had been pushed rather than being afforded the opportunity to walk.

Former Newcastle United head coach John Carver thinks new £13 million signing Aleksandar Mitrovic is stylistically the closest striker The Magpies have had to Alan Shearer since the club’s record goal scorer retired nine years ago.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Goals On Sunday, the former United gaffer was full of praise for the former Anderlecht man but did see some disciplinary problems in his future.
Carver said: “He’s an old-fashioned centre-forward & he’s the nearest thing we’ve had to Alan Shearer since Alan Shearer.”
This is spectacular praise indeed for Mitrovic when you consider some of the strikers United have had in their ranks since Shearer decided to call it a day in 2006.
Demba Ba and Loic Remy were fantastic in their own right for The Toon during their respective spells at St James’ Park – but neither were really the sort of physical ‘number...

Steve McClaren’s appointment as Newcastle United boss in June was supposed to herald a complete break from the previous regime.
No more Steve Stone. No more John Carver. And no more Alan Pardew.
Things at St James’ Park were to work differently and the club would be completely rebuilt from within. And McClaren has now revealed that it is arguably his predecessor’s biggest mistake at St James’ Park that he is determined to rectify as soon as possible: the lack of leadership at Newcastle.

Fabricio Coloccini’s Toon future is unclear and there has been much debate about who exactly the Argentine would hand the Nufc captain’s armband over to should he reunite with Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace.

On June 10th 2015 John Carver’s disastrous reign as Newcastle United interim coach finally came to an end.
For five-and-a-half months, Alan Pardew’s former assistant had tried to steer the good ship Newcastle – who were bobbing along calmly in mid-table mediocrity when he took over – to safety. Yet the smooth excursion turned into a treacherous voyage as the Magpies took on water at an alarming rate, and began sinking without a trace.
Delivering just two victories from his first 19 in charge – and overseeing eight straight losses, a Premier League record for Newcastle – Carver only managed to save the Magpies from relegation on the final day of the season with a 2-0 victory over West Ham United.
Between his first and last game in charge Carver – among many other things – accused Mike Williamson of getting himself deliberately sent off, led the Magpies to a fifth straight Tyne-Wear derby loss against Sunderland,...

Newcastle United have officially unveiled Steve McClaren as their permanent head coach a full six months after Alan Pardew left for Crystal Palace.
The former England, Middlesbrough and Derby County boss had been the favourite for the role ever since Pardew left the Magpies for the Eagles at the turn of the year and has penned a three-year-deal at St James’ Park.
McClaren’s contract has the option for another five years which could see him in charge for the next eight years.
And the 54-year-old’s remit includes a top eight Premier League finish and a cup win.
However, having reportedly turned the Magpies down on two occasions already in 2015 – first immediately after Pardew left in January and then with three matches left of the season – McClaren has finally agreed to take up the position having been sacked as Derby County boss last month.

John Carver has been sacked by Newcastle United as they prepare to appoint former England boss Steve McClaren as head coach.
Alan Pardew’s former assistant and also first-team coach Steve Stone have both left the club, with McClaren’s appointment as boss imminent.
After winning just three of Newcastle’s final 19 Premier League games of the 2014-15 and plunging the Magpies into a relegation battle despite having been mid-table when Pardew left, Carver has been sent on his way.

The Sunday newspapers are rife with speculation over Alan Pardew’s future (or lack thereof) at Newcastle United after yesterday’s 4-0 humiliating defeat at Southampton looked to be the straw that broke his back. And, as to be expected, they all carry their own scoops over who could replace him in the St. James’ Park hot seat, though at this stage it looks like little more than pulling names out of the air.
The Mail reports today that former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is in the frame for the job along with outed Manchester United manager David Moyes. Currently at Napoli, Benitez usually finds his name at the top of the “next manager odds” lists and Moyes will be linked with every top English job until he finds himself out of the unemployment line.

Newcastle United are lining up Celtic’s giant centre-back Kelvin Wilson as a possible replacement for Fabricio Coloccini, according to the Mirror.
The Argentine defender looked certain to leave St James’ Park in the January transfer window, and although manager Alan Pardew was able to talk him down from a move, fears continue to grow over his long term future.
Coloccini wants to go back home to Argentina, citing “personal reasons”, while Wilson has shone for Celtic this term.
The 27-year old was watched in action at St Mirren yesterday by Newcastle’s top scout Steve Stone, and could leave for as little as £5 million.
He joined the Scottish champions from Nottingham Forest on a free in 2011 and has put in some fine performances for the Hoops this season, particularly throughout their brave run in the Champions League.

In case you’re not so familiar with this project, I will first inform you that it comes from writer and director Stone, who already revealed:

Director/writer: Steve Stone. Cast: Dervla Kirwan, Charlotte Riley and Branko Tomovic. The foreign-made film, Entity, may well set a new standard for found-footage style films. A mystery surrounds a remote Siberian forest, where 34 bodies were found in shallow graves, and it may not even involve the Tunguska event at all. In an area where a forest was literally flattened, what a team of paranormal investigators from the television show "Darkest Secrets" may find is a region peppered with more than just one mystery. In the teaser trailer, what Ruth Peacock (Dervla Kirwan) and her team of investigators discover nearby is an abandoned building that looks like a hospital. Within it is an eeriness that looks rank with both decay and death. Peacock is definitely sensing something that has her feeling nervous. But in what the other investigators feel, that is relatively unknown until the product releases to video and...

No, it’s not a remake of the 1982 movie starring Barbara Hershey (unfortunately). It’s an original (well, as original as you can get with horror movies nowadays, anyway) from writer/director Steve Stone (great name, that) called “Entity”, about a news crew that uncovers ghosts from the past. See, this is what happens when you go looking for ghosts, you find them. Especially in horror movies. When will these people ever learn? When you’re in a horror movie, don’t go looking for ghosts! Anyways, check out the first trailer for “Entity”. It’s not altogether bad, I gotta say. In 1998, thirty four unidentified bodies were found in shallow graves in a remote Siberian forest. After subsequent investigations, no official explanation by the Russian authorities was ever offered about the circumstances of the deaths. The case was closed. Upon watching the first five seconds of the trailer for Steve Stone's Entity, you'll probably think, "Please, not another cookie-cutter found-footage horror film." However, by the time it finishes, you may find yourself writing your local film festival and demanding they schedule this little nightmare.
Entity was recently completed and is currently being submitted to festivals. Judging by the sleek trailer, writer/director Stone seems to have captured some real frights with this UK thriller. Check out the stills and trailer below and see if you don't agree.

With Newcastle United currently defying expectations in third place in the Premiership (a position earned on merit, despite what some pundits might suggest), some commenters might be forgiven for assuming that Mike Ashley will resist the temptation to plunder the untouched warchest to bring in further playing staff, but the simple fact remains that Newcastle currently boast one of the smallest squads in the division.
The problem for Newcastle fans might be that Ashley sees the immediate, short-term success of his financial model and chooses to believe that he has put together a complete package already, but from what we are hearing, he recognises the need to invest (though to what degree remains up for serious debate).
Anyway, it seems that Ashley, or his management team at least, have already been busy looking at potential new additions: with Mobido Maiga rumoured to be very close to an early transfer window move to Tyneside from Sochaux,...
