"All in the Family" might've been Norman Lear's finest half-hour as a sitcom producer, but I'm not sure he ever put a funnier show on the airwaves than "The Jeffersons." For 11 seasons, Sherman Hemsley's dry-cleaning magnate George Jefferson and Isabel Sanford's good-hearted Louise "Weezy" Jefferson led a stellar cast that delivered edgy-for-network-television laughs revolving around race, class, gender, and whatever happened to be grinding the hot-headed George's gears that particular week. It was the African-American answer to "All in the Family" (on which the characters of George and Weezy originated), and might actually be more shocking today for its fearless deployment of the n-word (particularly early in the series' run).
And if you're making a list of the most memorable theme songs in television history, "The Jeffersons" better be in the top five. Anyone who grew up watching the show in prime time or via syndication should...

This is the most amazing thing we've ever seen!!!A man born with no arms threw out the 1st pitch at the K.C. Royals game last night -- using his feet -- and he absolutely Crushes It. The guy's name is Tom Willis -- a motivational speaker who has a production company with the slogan, "No hands. No arms. No problem."Willis used his feet to fire out the first pitch -- and put 50 Cent to shame!

With religion in decline, why does our fascination with fiends and possession persist? Perhaps its a kind of therapeutic release
As their chosen title suggests, the makers of The Last Exorcism didn't expect it to beget a sequel. However, their $1.8m found-footage cheapie ended up taking $68m at the box office, so understandably enough, this week they're bringing us The Last Exorcism Part II. Perhaps they should have been more confident about their first effort's prospects: filmgoers have a proven taste for demonic expulsion.
The Exorcist regularly tops lists of the scariest-ever films. A decline in religiosity since its 1973 release might have been expected to curb the appeal of its subject matter, but recent years have spawned The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Constantine, Exorcist: The Beginning, Stigmata, The Devil Inside, Season of the Witch, The Possession, The Unborn, Paranormal Activity 2 and The Rite. Several of these efforts displeased critics,...

For many black Americans, the news of actor Sherman Hemsley's death represents a two-fold loss of both an incredible talent and the captivating character that was George Jefferson. By portraying the outspoken and incredibly honest Mr. Jefferson, who was never too shy to speak candidly about race relations in the seventies, Hemsley and his cast mates had a major affect on American television through the hit sitcom "The Jeffersons."
As the longest-running series with a predominantly African American cast, the show was one of the first to portray a successful black family, paving the way for future sitcoms like "The Cosby Show" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." It was also the first series to prominently feature an interracial couple with the characters Helen and Tom Willis, using its makeup of colorful personalities to create humorous commentary about race in the United States at the time.
