I will watch anything that features any of the main cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It actually hasn’t covered too much lately but in the case of Charisma Carpenter it has meant that I have watched a whole lot of average horror movies. But her featuring in a lead role here wasn’t the only reason I wanted to watch Mail Order Monster.
Here, a young girl is having some issues with life. Primarily, a bully at school and her Dad’s new girlfriend. It seems that help might be at hand though when a comic she is reading advertises a ‘Mail Order Monster’, that could be the answer to her problems. Yes, it does sound super cheesy but for a family-friendly movie, it’s also pretty perfect.

"Sometimes friendship can't be explained." Film Mode Entertainment has debuted the first official trailer for a fun sci-fi indie comedy titled Mail Order Monster, which is the feature debut of producer-filmmaker Paulina Lagudi. The film is about a precocious young girl named Sam who is being bullied at school, and on top of that, her single father has just found a new girlfriend. To cope with her situation, she orders a a robot monster through the mail that promises to solve her problems. Hilarity ensues, and everyone learns some good lessons. Madison Horcher stars as Sam, and the cast includes Charisma Carpenter, Josh Hopkins, Emma Rayne Lyle, and Bill Billions. This looks like an amusing, good-for-all-ages fun time, and the robot monster looks so funky and goofy I can't help but smile whenever I see it. Check it out below. Here's the first official trailer for Paulina Lagudi's Mail Order Monster,...

In Why Stop Now (titled Predisposed at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival), Jesse Eisenberg plays Eli, a promising concert pianist whose career rests on a single audition, which happens to fall on the same day he needs to drop off his drug addicted mother, Penny (Melissa Leo), at rehab. Things don’t quite unfold as planned, and her main drug dealer, Sprinkles (Tracy Morgan), and his associate, Black (Isiah Whitlock Jr.), get involved.
In this exclusive clip, Penny, Eli, Sprinkles, and Black all pick up Penny’s daughter, Nicole (Emma Rayne Lyle), who has developed perhaps an unhealthy attachment to her ill-mannered sock puppet Julio.

Chicago – It’s an evening typical of so many American homes. Tom Bergeron’s smarmy voice fills the air as televised pratfalls are accompanied by the mechanical laughter of a studio audience. A father chuckles and winces at the mindless spectacle while relaxing on the couch with his children. His wife, on the other hand, remains restless. She fails to find any sense of comfort in the nightly routine.
This scene takes place early on in Liza Johnson’s “Return,” which is one of the most refreshingly unconventional wartime dramas in recent memory. It observes a female soldier, Kelli (Linda Cardellini), in the days following her return home after a tour of duty. A formulaic script would’ve culminated in expository revelations about Kelli’s traumatic experiences overseas, but Johnson uses behavioral nuances rather than pat dialogue to illuminate her heroine’s inner turmoil. It’s a character vignette that...

We woke to the sounds of faraway explosions this fine, snowy morning as the ski patrol people were blowing things up on the mountains to create mini-avalanches. This is a new and exciting thing for people who lived in NYC during 9/11, but ski towns are strange and wondrous places. The bus I hopped on was piloted by a fellow with the chillest temperament ever, even though it was icier than the ninth circle of Dante's Inferno out there. In any case, I got to my first screening safe and sound. Predisposed Jesse Eisenberg stars as an eccentric piano genius who has to take care of his drug-addled mom Penny (Melissa Leo) and little sister (Emma Rayne Lyle) instead of following his dreams. As Eli, Eisenberg is definitely still the bundle of nerves we all know and love but he's...

Return Trailer. Liza Johnson‘s Return (2011) movie trailer stars Linda Cardellini, Michael Shannon, John Slattery, Talia Balsam, and Emma Rayne Lyle. Return‘s plot synopsis: “When Kelli returns home from war, she expected to slowly but surely settle back into her life with her husband and kids in the small town she grew up in. But she gradually realizes that the life she left behind is no longer there waiting for her.”
The instant I started watching this movie trailer I thought of Brothers and Homeland, both dealing with returning war veterans. Linda Cardellini looks as though she digs deep here.
Return also stars Paul Sparks, Louisa Krause, James Murtaugh, Rutanya Alda, Bonnie Swencionis, Edward Crawford, and Jennifer Olivera.
