With the first poster having been released last week, it.s very clear that we will soon be seeing the first trailer for the new action thriller The Equalizer. While we.re still waiting for the footage to drop online, however, today USA Today has delivered a whole gallery of new images. Check out a selection above and below and see the full gallery over there. Up top we have Denzel Washington as Robert McCall, a.k.a. the titular protagonist. He is a former government operative who faked his own death to get out of the killing business, and lives a quiet life as an Home Depot employee. One part of his life that he can.t shake, however, is the need to help David battle Goliath. Enter Teri, played by Chloe Moretz. She is a young girl who finds herself in trouble with the Russian mob, and after...

When it comes to remaking a classic horror film, creators find themselves on the receiving end of a shitstorm from the diehard fans no matter what. But when the film is as beloved as the original Evil Dead, the outrage is almost palpable. Fans online buzzed relentlessly as each new tidbit was released — rumors involving the production, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell's involvement, and much more spiraled among the horror community for over a year before the first teaser was released. And now, at the film's world premiere at SXSW, ninety minutes before the doors were set to open, there were nearly a thousand people in line to get in.
The film isn't so much a remake as a complete reworking; forget anything you know about the...

Another giveaway for you, this time for a film that looks pretty impressive, and stars one of my personal favorites, Richard Coyle.
5 Days of War is a thriller about a journalist caught behind enemy lines during the war between Russia and the Georgian Republic. Inspired by real events, it's an intense look at not only surviving in such a situation, but also a devastating war that was over so fast most people hardly had a chance to notice it.
I have two copies of the DVD available, and all you have to do is leave a comment to be entered. Winners will be randomly selected on December 10th. U.S. only.
Check out the info below, don't miss the trailer, and then enter for your chance to win.

Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!) is making sure his native land is well represented in his adaptation of The Great Gatsby. Entertainment Weekly reports Gemma Ward, the former model who played the creepy mermaid in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, has joined the film alongside fellow Aussies Joel Edgerton and Isla Fisher. Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire round out the cast of big names for the film, which will see release next November.
David Koepp (Panic Room, Carlito's Way) has been hired to script the Johnny Depp/Rob Marshall remake of The Thin Man. He'll go back to the Dashiell Hammett novel that spawned a series of six films starring William Powell as the hard drinking detective and Myra Loy as his young socialite wife. Deadline reports the original plan was for the remake to take elements of the first two Thin Man films and...

The first official poster has been released for the war biopic 5 Days of War, starring Val Kilmer, Andy Garcia and Rupert Friend. This title will release August 19th and the film covers the Georgian Civil War. Shot in Georgia, the promotional material for 5 Days War is quite graphic, as the civil war brings atrocities to the fighter's doorsteps. Enjoy this early preview of the film, with 5 Days of War set to heat up the 2011 summer releases.
The synopsis for 5 Days of War:

Here’s a recipe for … well, I’m not sure what dish this will make, but it’ll certainly be interesting: Emmanuelle Chriqui, a recurring actor on Entourage, and Val Kilmer (Tombstone) have joined forces with director Renny Harlin for the leading roles in Georgia, Harlin’s new war film.
According to THR, the film centers around “an American journalist (Kilmer) and his cameraman caught in the crossfire of covering last year’s military conflict between Russia and Georgia … [as well as] a Georgia native (Chriqui) and doctoral student who becomes entangled with them.”
While this certainly doesn’t represent Harlin’s average action fare, I’m not entirely convinced that the man has ever made a good film in his life. When the closest you come to a good film is the lackluster Die Hard 2 or the redeemably cheesy Deep Blue Sea, you know your track record is somewhat worse for the wear.

It may be hard to believe now, but once upon a time Renny Harlin was an in-demand action movie director, having directed hits like “Die Hard 2″, “Cliffhanger”, and “The Long Kiss Goodnight”. More recently, not so much. Harlin hasn’t exactly had the best of resumes in the last few years, with junk like “The Covenant” and “12 Rounds” to his credit. He’s looking to rise from direct-to-dvd hell (and bad movies starring wrestlers) with the kinda-current themed “Georgia”, a war drama that will be set in the country of Georgia and star Val Kilmer as a journalist covering the recent Russia-Georgia conflict. “Entourage” star Emmanuelle Chriqui (who can also be seen in the delightful sounding “Women in Trouble”) has now been added to the cast as a Georgian native and doctoral student who becomes tangled up with Kilmer and his cameraman during the event. Harlin will produce and direct the movie,...
