Tagline: "A Life and Death Intervention." A trailer for The Hoard has debuted this week. From directors Jesse Thomas Cook (Septic Man) and Matt Wiele (Exit Humanity), this horror comedy involves a "reality tv crew" and a series of condemned houses. The crew hopes to get a hoarder back on his feet. But, this might be impossible with the amount of trash and bodies, housed inside the buildings. The Hoard is set to have its World Premiere, in Toronto, this November 25th, at the Blood in the Snow Film Festival. Details on this release are hosted here. The trailer is a funny one. Some of the crew are unable to get past the piles of garbage. Another crew member almost falls to his death, at the end of a hall. Dead cats keep turning up. And, one woman runs from this hoarding nightmare as she loses her sanity. This trailer will surely brighten your dark,...

"...'William Cassidy' (Richings) is a man who has had steady interactions with extraterrestrials for the last 40 years, which has left him so filled with paranoia and fear that he now spends his days as a blogger living in seclusion.
"He contacts 'Joe Sullivan' (Adam Seybold), an alien researcher and conspiracy theorist blogger, and invites him to his home on the night of a solar event that Cassidy believes could be potentially dangerous to Earth.
"The film switches back and forth between footage from that night to a later day where Cassidy is being interrogated by an unseen person..."
Cast also includes Lisa Houle as 'Dr. Tobin', Mark Gibson as 'Agent Brinkman', Justin Darmanin as 'Agent Falco',...

Calling back to the minimalist sci-fi stories of yesteryear, Ejecta blends found footage camerawork with an Area 51-esque experiment that wants to prove the existence of alien lifeforms. Penned by genre favorite Tony Burgess (Pontypool/Septic Man), it’s a story about paranoia that hits on a possession arc we typically see connected to exorcisms and demonic overtakings – but it’s not one that dares to push the envelope.
What’s been said about extraterrestrial invasions is restated by Ejecta in a lot of the same ways, which only reminds us of past films that have executed interplanetary thrills with far more energy. Whether you’re thinking of the basement scene in Signs, or any first-person chase scene from the Vicious brothers’ Extraterrestrial, directors Chad Archibald and Matt Wiele are only able to produce another bland case of flying saucers and gangly spacemen. Nothing more, and nothing less.

It can be really hard to create new and compelling sci-fi stories involving aliens these days, especially on an indie scale. That’s why I will give Ejecta and its filmmakers, Chad Archibald and Matt Wiele, a lot of credit for what they've put together here. Unfortunately though, the scares are as scarce as movie’s alien antagonists, the story suffers from a bit of an identity crisis, and the lackluster conclusion left me feeling pretty underwhelmed by the time it was over.
Ejecta follows William Cassidy (Julian Richings), a troubled man who believes he’s being tormented by an alien life form and has taken to posting his theories online over the years out of frustration for his otherworldly predicament. One night, he reaches out to a documentarian (Adam Seybold) about his suspicions that aliens are going to be returning during a cosmic event and the two set out...

Good day, horror fans. Wondering about new releases that might get your spine tingling? You might want to look somewhere beyond David Gelb.s supernatural thriller Lazarus Effect, which has earned all the critical acclaim of a stubbed toe. Hitting VOD is Chad Archibald and Matt Wiele.s Ejecta, but that one isn.t exactly doing any better as far as audience responses go. In smaller news, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin.s zombified drama Maggie now has a release date of May 8. And speaking of Chad Archibald, his next flick The Drownsman is getting a May 12 DVD and Blu-ray release. Finally, Final Destination screenwriter Jeffrey Reddick will make his directorial debut with the intriguing-sounding thriller The Final Reel, which is about a director whose movies can change reality. And now, Rick and Coral.s Wild Ride. This Walking Deceased Trailer Spoofs.Well, You Know With the rare exceptions like...

Often, with indie horror flicks, you have to accept that you're watching a demonstration of ingenuity rather than a coherent film: "Here's what I can do with two sets, five actors, and a couple weekends," the directors seem to be telling us — "Imagine what I'd do with a real budget." I can't speak with authority as to how Chad Archibald and Matt Wiele's Ejecta came together. It's half an interrogation and possession cheapie, in which a tough-cookie government agent (or something) played by the commanding and appealing Lisa Houle questions a UFO abductee (Julian Richings), and it's also half a not-bad found-footage alien footchase. But despite a convoluted timeline it's hard to buy that the script was much fussed over. Houle gets stuck with mouth...

Aliens can be annoying, especially with all the probing and implanting they seem to do. Ejecta features a character that shows just why this is the case, especially if the aliens use the victims head as a radio conductor for their conversations. When people who complain about such things are normally seen as crazy, what happens if they are telling the truth? Then you get a film like Ejecta.
Ejecta focuses on William Cassidy (Julian Richings) who at the beginning of the film is captured by an anonymous group wanting to know the truth about the aliens he says he has encountered. Watching footage found recorded by still missing Joe Sullivan (Adam Seybold) featuring the recent actions of the duo Dr.

As with Septic Man the script here comes courtesy of Pontypool author Tony Burgess with Matt Wiele and Chad Archibald in the director's chair and we're proud to present the official trailer and poster below.Ejecta is the story of two men who witness an unexplainable event in the atmosphere on the eve of a historic solar storm and must survive a terrifying life form that's hunting them. An anonymous group will stop at nothing to unearth the truth behind what happened to the men that night and prove to the world that we...

Foresight Features, which previously won notice with Monster Brawl and Exit Humanity, consists of Cook, John Geddes and Matt Wiele. “The three of us each formulated a basic idea for a storyline,” Cook tells Fango, “and we brought Tony, who lives just up the road, on board to turn those concepts into polished scripts. The crews for the most part were the same tight-knit, threadbare collective throughout the three productions. In May, we filmed the sci-fi thriller Ejecta [which we previously reported on here] in the remote wilderness of Grey County, starring Julian Richings [from Cube and Wrong Turn among many others].
“In July, we moved our operation down to Toronto and filmed the visual-effects spectacle Hellmouth, starring Stephen McHattie in the lead role as a grizzled gravekeeper who is enticed out of retirement to manage a particularly evil cemetery at the gates of hell. Hellmouth is a very stylized throwback to 1950s Ed Wood and Hitchcock horror, shot entirely in a greenscreen studio,...

Remember when you were a kid and you would dream of your favorite monsters battling each other? You would sit in school daydreaming about what it would be like to see Frankenstein's Monster battle the Werewolf or the Mummy get into hand-to-hand combat with the Creature from the Black Lagoon. This is something you no longer have to imagine. Thanks to Image Entertainment, Monster Brawl takes those very childhood fantasies and puts them on screen.
The movie is simple to describe. You take all your favorite horror movie creatures and throw them in a wrestling ring to battle it out with each other to the death. Throw in some intro sequences to give each monster's backstory and some emcees dishing witty retorts back and forth and you've got a film that should satisfy both horror fans and wrestling fans.
If you watch professional wrestling, you know exactly what to expect from this film.

Horror has been in Canada's snow for decades now, starting with the classic Cannibal Girls and Black Christmasin the early '70s, through the classic early Cronenberg years of Shivers, Rabid and The Brood in the late '70s. In the '80s, we got films like Prom Night, My Bloody Valentine and The Gate. In the past decade, we've had flicks like the Ginger Snaps series, Cube and PontyPool. In fact, you could even count the last three Dead movies by George A. Romero as Canadian — after all, he is a Canadian citizen now and made all three films in Toronto.
Being both a film writer and a host of a monthly horror film series called Fright Nights at the Projection Booth (based out of Toronto, Canada), I have noticed an incredible renaissance of grindhouse and horror directors coming out of Canada in the past few years. Southern Ontario,...

Bill Moseley, Dee Wallace, Stephen McHattie and Mark Gibson have just wrapped John Geddes' Exit Humanity for Foresight Features and producer Matt Wiele was kind enough to pass along these pics from the can. Mmm, smell that? Stinks of zombies! Wiele says these images have not been color corrected or anything, so pardon any flaws. And yes, it's a "Civil War picture" that brings out the undead. Should be a good 'un. Foresight also wrapped Monster Brawl earlier this year.
