Oh, that darn Internet of Things! One of these days all of our internet-connected devices may conspire against us and in a smarter picture with a more biting commentary, we might just get some real perspective on how disruptive playing God might be, as our overlords control our every move for the sake of our connivence, weaponizing data and our daily routines. I bring this up because Geostorm is, at its heart, a conspiracy thriller wrapped in a disaster movie (after all, that makes for a better trailer) with slick professional visual effects, even if Orlando and Washington, D.C. don’t look like Orlando and Washington D.C., because those places don’t have great tax incentives for movie productions. It’s ironic, of course, for a film that shows us oceans suddenly freezing on a sunny day in Rio de Janeiro, tidal waves drowning Dubai, and a heatwave...

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Geostorm, which shows mother nature going completely ballistic as it destroys the world. If you enjoy watching disaster movies with lots of big crazy destruction, Geostorm is a movie you don't want to miss because it looks like the ultimate natural disaster movie.
The movie was directed by Dean Devlin, the writer and producer of Independence Day, and it stars Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris, and Andy Garcia. The movie is sure to be a big entertaining visual feast of chaos with a hollow story because that's how most of these films turn out. If you want to watch a great disaster movie, check out The Wave on Netflix. Here's the synopsis:

"Supernatural" stars Jared Padalecki and Genevieve Padalecki made their music video debut this summer in this clip for "I Am Human," from Brian Buckley Band's most recent album Hysterical Blindness, released in June 2011.
In some rare downtime between meeting fans at conventions and getting in some quality time with their five-month-old son, Jared and Genevieve collaborated with the band and director Sarah Wilson for the narrative portion of the video, which is intercut with performance footage.
The Brian Buckley Band has become a favorite for "Supernatural" fans after Jared and Genevieve invited them to play at conventions in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Nashville, among others. Check out the video below. The song is available on iTunes along with the rest of Brian Buckley Band's discography.

With summer now turned to autumn, Dr Mumbo notices that Sunday Life, the magazine inserted into The Sun-Herald in Sydney and The Sunday Age in Melbourne, appears to be no closer to finding itself some permanent columnists following the departure of Sarah Wilson three months ago and Mia Freedman two months ago.
There has, however, been a development. Stand-in columnist Jacinta Tynan, whose column has been labelled with the starburst “summer columnist” for the last few months now has a new label – “guest columnist”. But still no sign of a permanent replacement.
Which must make her one of the longest serving guest columnists in publishing history.
Go on Sunday Life, give Jacinta the gig. After all these months, surely she’s earned it…...

Lilith stars Bitch Slap's Julia Voth. Be sure to head on over to the director's Lilith blog, where he shares his thoughts on the film's genesis and a whole lot more. Dig on an excerpt below along with some really cool eye candy.
"The concept was to have a large, creepy building where each floor served as a ring of hell, and Satan was in a chest freezer in the basement morgue. The concept was vague and lacked a clear protagonist and antagonist (hell is a force of antagonism, not an antagonist itself), and by nature The Inferno was a passive, observational story, but something about it felt right. Can't really tell you why, but it did. After many days of soul searching,...
