No stranger to playing not-so-upstanding knights in shining armor, Jaime Lannister himself, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, has boarded "Virtue," a medieval gothic horror movie that HanWay Films is taking to the European Film Market. Founded in 1999, HanWay is a British sales, distribution, and marketing company that's managed to get a pretty eclectic batch of films made over the years. Their output ranges from celebrated documentaries to Oscar-nominated period dramas to a bevy of auteur projects from the likes of David Cronenberg ("A Dangerous Method"), Takashi Miike ("13 Assassins"), Jim Jarmusch ("Only Lovers Left Alive"), and many more.
If that's not enough to get you sitting up and taking notice, know that "Virtue" further pairs Coster-Waldau with Romola Garai, the star of "Atonement," "Suffragette," and one of the best BBC series you've never seen, Abi Morgan's 1950s-set TV journalism drama "The Hour." In a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter), HanWay Films CEO Gabrielle Stewart notes that,...

Netflix’s much-talked-about docuseries Harry & Meghan dropped Thursday, and although the first three episodes revealed little new information, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s blunt criticism of the British press has elicited a predictably hysterical reaction from U.K. newspapers and some politicians.
In the series, Prince Harry describes how the U.K. tabloids would routinely exaggerate, distort and fabricate stories about the couple. He adds that newspapers would give reporters the fanciful title of “Royal Correspondent” to give their claims “extra credibility.” The Sussexes also recount repeated invasions of their privacy and being hounded by paparazzi.
Prince Harry adds that the royal family’s view on the hostile press coverage of his relationship with Markle was “a rite of passage.”
The Hollywood Reporter‘s review of the series said, “Harry & Meghan offers too little that feels fresh enough to merit its luxurious...

Liam Gallagher has confirmed that he and The Stone Roses’ former guitarist John Squire will make music together.
The ex-Oasis frontman, who turned 50 yesterday, had previously tweeted suggesting a potential collaboration between the pair.
“Super group incoming LG Js,” The singer tweeted in June, after he brought Squire out on stage at his Knebworth shows to perform “Champagne Supernova”.
But now Gallagher has confirmed that a “supergroup” of some kind is definitely in the works.
Asked about the potential collaboration by Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1, he said: “Yeah. Serious, man.
“But we’ve got things to do first, and he’s got things to clear up and that. But yeah, I’m definitely going to do summat at some point.”
“So you’ve actually had the conversation a little bit?” Wilkinson questioned, with Gallagher responding: “Maybe, yeah. Probably did that at Knebworth and that, I think, if I can remember anything about it.

The BBC has commissioned a six-part drama about the UK’s ska and two-tone music scene, which hails from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
Two Tone (working title) will tell the story of an extended family and four young people who are drawn into the world of ska and two tone music, which grew from the grass roots of the English cities Coventry and Birmingham in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The music united black, white and Asian youths during a tough period for race relations in the UK.
The series also marks the beginning of a new deal between Knight and Banijay-uk backed Kudos, which gives the Deadwater Fell indie a first look at all of his future UK-based projects. The agreement also includes a commitment to grow the local workforce in Birmingham, using Knight’s Digbeth Loc Studios as a base.
Deadline first revealed Knight and Kudos were working on Two-Tone in November 2020.
News of the series, which will air on BBC1 and the BBC iPlayer, comes in the same month Knight’s lauded gangster drama Peaky Blinders came to an end on the BBC.
Kudos and Knight’s Nebulastar are co-producing in association with the former’s northern subsidiary Kudos North, Matthew James Wilkinson’s Stigma Films (Choose Or Die) and Nick Angel, the former Island Records A&r director who was a co-founder of Colin Firth’s Random Films.
Shooting will begin Birmingham at Digbeth Loc later this year.
“This is a project that’s literally very close to home and I’m developing characters and themes that are set in the early 80s but hopefully are very contemporary. Of course, the soundtrack will be sensational,” said Knight, who is creator, writer and executive producer.
Kudos’ Karen Wilson, Martin Haines, Phil Temple and Laura Conway are exec producers, along with Wilkinson, Angel and the BBC’s Tommy Bulfin. Banijay Rights will handle international distribution.
Ben Irving, Acting Director of BBC Drama said: “Steven has taken his knowledge of this time and place and used it to weave a brilliantly original and characterful drama, set against the musical backdrop of ska and two tone. We are thrilled to be able to bring this unique piece to viewers on the BBC.”...

Role playing games possess a certain escapist thrill, but what happens when fantasy creeps into reality? Today’s popular user-driven experience gets a nostalgic 1980s makeover in “Choose or Die,” the terrifying refrain in a game with extremely high stakes. The pushes the idea of a cursed survival game to sinister ends, creating a world where every choice has cruel — and very real — consequences. Anchored by a scrappy coder heroine named Kayla (Iola Evans), whose tough exterior is armor for a difficult home life, the film offers a fresh take on a smart concept through the eyes of a compelling teenager. More leads like this, please.
“Choose or Die” is a perfect entry point into genre for younger viewers, one that will also satisfy old school diehards even as it takes some pointed (perhaps deserved?) jabs at them.
The film opens with a scene of domestic strife: A mother and...
