The next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte, is set to premiere on June 5, and Lucasfilm has now released two new teasers, one of which might confirm (or at least hint at) a recent rumor that's been doing the rounds.
Possible spoilers follow.
The first promo once again sees Master Sol vow to track down his wayward apprentice, Mae, who has seemingly fallen to the Dark Side and become the titular acolyte (which she is referred to as for the first time here). We then see Mae confronted at the edge of a snowy cliff, where she professes her innocence: "I didn't do it... believe me!"
If she is being sincere here, it might just confirm a persistent rumor that actress Amandla Stenberg will actually play a dual role as twins, which means Mae could have an evil sister out there taking down Jedi and framing her sibling for the murders.

Lucasfilm released a new trailer for The Acolyte yesterday (see below) to mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, and a new poster for the next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series has now been unveiled at Ccxp Mexico.
Some fans on social media initially attempted to pass this off as our first look at Darth Plagueis, but a closer look (see the knives?) reveals that it's actually Amandla Stenberg's character, Mae.
Possible spoilers ahead.
Speaking of Master Sol's former apprentice, a rumor relating to this enigmatic Force-wielder has re-emerged with some additional details. According to Daniel Richtman, both Stenberg and Manny Jacinto will actually play dual roles as two pairs of twins - one good, one evil.
This would explain a few things May 4, 2024

To mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, Lucasfilm has released a brand-new trailer and poster for its next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte.
In addition to some exciting lightsaber action, the teaser reveals more story details, as Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) vows to bring his wayward former apprentice Mae (Amandla Stenberg) to justice.
Mae doesn't appear to be the only one taking down Jedi, however, as we also get a first proper look at the mysterious Sith villain who is behind the murders. His (her?) face is obscured (with a mask not too dissimilar to the ones Kylo Ren and his Knights wore in the sequel trilogy), which may indicate that this formidable warrior will ultimately be unveiled as an already established character.

With now just one month to go until Star Wars: The Acolyte premieres on Disney+, a new banner has surfaced (via SFFGazette.com) highlighting the show's leads...and potentially its mysterious villain!
Mae, Sol, Venestra, Jecki, Indara, Yord, Kelnacca and Mother Aniseya are among those featured, but to the right of Sol is a mysterious figure clad in all black and wielding the red lightsaber we're betting is the same one featured in the trailers. Could this be our first look at The Acolyte's Sith baddie?
It seems likely, particularly with a helmet that instantly brings up memories of Darth Vader and the Sith Inquisitors. In fact, on closer inspection, it almost seems to boast a toothy grin, a sign perhaps that whoever is beneath the mask has a monstrous side.
With this series playing out roughly 100 years before The Phantom Menace, this could be Darth Plagueis or even his Master,...

Star Wars: The Acolyte Leaked Footage Features An Intense Force Battle And A Badass Carrie-Anne Moss
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace returns to theaters this weekend to celebrate its 25th anniversary. With a month or so before The Acolyte premieres on Disney+, Lucasfilm is looking to build hype for that by attaching an extended preview to the 1999 movie.
Now, that sneak peek has leaked online (via SFFGazette.com) and it features an edge-of-your-seat clash.
The clip kicks off with Amandala Stenberg's Mae entering a cantina and approaching a hooded figure who we soon learn is Carrie-Anne Moss's Jedi Master Indara.
A fight ensues which highlights martial arts and the Force, with Indara eventually wielding her green lightsaber as the footage comes to an end (it's then followed by a previously released trailer). The action here is top-notch and may sway those who have written The Acolyte off before it's even begun.

Lucasfilm has dealt with plenty of shakeups over “Star Wars” recently, but now the studio is facing a full-fledged lawsuit over their beloved franchise. Lawyers for producer Karyn McCarthy have filed a lawsuit against Lucasfilm over her axing from the upcoming Disney+ “Star Wars” show “The Acolyte,” Deadline is reporting.
According to filings obtained by Deadline and submitted to the LA Superior Court on Tuesday, McCarthy — whose former producing credits include “Ballers,” “Insecure,” and “House of Cards” — is suing for breach of contract over her dismissal from “The Acolyte,” an upcoming “Star Wars” show created by “Russian Doll’s” Leslye Headland. The specific monetary damages asked for are unclear, but the lawsuit claims that McCarthy lost out on “millions of dollars” as a result of Lucasfilm’s alleged “bad faith and wrongful termination.”

Stenberg is not just the latest star to join the galaxy far, far away. They’re also a massive Star Wars fan and has spent the last few months taking a deep dive into everything the universe and the fandom has to offer.

The latest episode of The Star Wars Show features the Lucasfilm Star Wars story group talking about Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi for about thirty minutes. The Star Wars Show host Andi Gutierrez speaks with the Lucasfilm Story Group's Leland Chee, Pablo Hidalgo, Matt Martin, and Rayne Roberts about the secrets of the latest film in the saga. They talk about all kinds of things including Han Solo's dice from the Millennium Falcon.
I'm sure you remember near the end of the movie when Luke Skywalker hands Leia the dice. This was a touching moment, but at the same time, some people were confused as to why these dice played such a big role.
It's explained that J.J. Abrams originally had a scene in The Force Awakens that showed Han Solo return to the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon for the first time, and he puts the dice back up.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s been out for nearly a month now and so far, has been met with widespread critical acclaim. That said, there is a certain disquiet rumbling amongst a subset of the fandom due to the movie’s bold choices and unexpected turns. In contrast to the familiar, nostalgia-tinged The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi is keen to challenge our presumptions about the saga.
All that said, it’s still made with a lot of love for what has come before and as such features many a nod to the previous films in the franchise. There are some great obvious ones, for example, such as R2-D2 replaying Leia’s hologram message from A New Hope, the attack on Crait calling back to the Battle of Hoth and, last but not least, the poorly-kept secret that was Yoda’s cameo.
However, Episode VIII also features a...

Some Star Wars fans lost it when Disney first announced that they would be nixing all existing Expanded Universe material from the franchise's canon. All of a sudden, the decades worth of material that had sprouted up between 1977 and 2012 were erased in one fell swoop. Now, every bit of that material that isn't a feature film has been retro-actively been added to the Star Wars Legends brand.
On a surface level, it's easy to understand why fans would be upset over such a drastic move. If you'd spent a lot of time investing in this world, having all of it deemed irrelevant would be a big deal for anyone. However, this gave Disney and Lucasfilm an amazing opportunity. Rather than be beholden to a canon that was created before they owned the property, it would make sense to restart the whole thing so that you could make it all cohesive and consistent.
