Beau DeMayo’s X-Men ’97 is a treat for fans who grew up with X-Men: The Animated Series. When the children’s content turned into an adult animated show for Disney+, fans were in for an anxiety-inducing brilliantly written series. The creators also managed to cater to the Marvel fans and bring in a few cameos like Captain America and Spider-Man. But DeMayo revealed that one superhero was strictly off-limits for them to bring into the series.
X-Men ’97 featured cameos from several Marvel superheroes, but one character couldn’t be included in the series
X-Men ’97 could not feature a cameo from Deadpool, despite the X-Men character making appearances in the 90s animated series. It could probably be due to the upcoming multiversal film in the MCU featuring the character, Deadpool & Wolverine.

The Bear season 3 will return to our screens on the 27th June with all episodes dropping at once. More on the third season below.
The Bear, Christopher Storer’s popular kitchen drama, has had us shouting “Yes, chef! and “Behind!” since its first season debuted in 2022. Starring Jeremy Allen White, the series follows his fine dining chef Carmy who returns to Chicago to run his late brother’s sandwich shop which has now been transformed into the titular restaurant.
We now have confirmation that the highly anticipated season 3 will debut on Disney+ in the UK and on Hulu in the US on the 27th June. All 10 episodes will drop at once, for your binge watching pleasure.
We also got a tiny little sneak peek at the new season, which sees Carmy returning to the kitchen. The third season will deal with the fallout of the somewhat, shall we say, eventful opening of The Bear.

With the appetite of a hungry grizzly, “The Bear” could gobble up a few Emmy records for its sophomore season. Fresh off a smashing first season that set a new benchmark for comedy series wins with 10 trophies, FX’s awards-gobbling show shows no signs of letting up. Its second season, which aired in June 2023, is eyeing three more records to own: most acting nominations for a series in a single year, most nods for a comedy, and most nominated episode in history with its sixth installment, “Fishes.”
“Fishes” dishes out a heated Christmas dinner flashback of the Berzatto family, positioning itself as the series’ pièce de résistance thus far — imagine the “Succession/Connor’s Wedding” version of family dinners, only with more food spills. Directed by Christopher Storer, who also co-wrote the episode with Joanna Calo, “Fishes” seems the obvious pick for Emmy nods in both directing and writing categories.

The Bear is one of those rare stories that comes along once in a blue moon. It doesn't get by on flashy CG, explosions, or modded-out race cars flying down the streets.
Witty dialogue, high stress, and intense drama fuel this machine, and perhaps that's why so many big-name actors are attracted to its frenzied undercurrents.
Kudos to the creative team assembled under the banner of The Bear. They've created a fantastic ride, thrumming with intensity and entertainment without needing to spend a fortune.
They're clearly doing something right. Series creator Christopher Storer (bolstered by incredible writers like Joanna Calo) nails the pace and character beats while accomplishing a rare feat within the industry, perfecting the art of the cameo appearance.
Cameos are often tricky for several reasons. They tend to disrupt the immersive nature of the story. As a prime example, everyone is still trying to forget Ed Sheeran...

The second season of The Bear proved to be as stress-inducing as it was profound, intimate and heartwarming, so it's no surprise that it received even more prestigious nominations and awards than the previous one. In addition to the storyline revolving around the titular restaurant and its staff, no less dramatic were the star cameos that appeared either as relatives of the protagonists or as prominent personalities in the restaurant world.
One of the most unexpected, but certainly welcome cameos came from Will Poulter, who played the former colleague of Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and new mentor to Marcus (Lionel Boyce). And now a new set video has surfaced on X, formerly known as Twitter, with Poulter in attendance. All this means that the actor will return to the series and his role may be expanded to a recurring one.

With the Dceu undergoing a reboot, Gunn’s & Safran’s Dcu is poised to take center stage, revamping many of the stories and characters. While ‘Creature Commandos’ kicks off ‘Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters,’ the director sees ‘Superman,’ slated for release in 2025, as the true beginning of the Dcu.
Fans were disappointed by the news that Henry Cavill wouldn’t return as Superman. However, it was later announced that David Corenswet would take on the role, as Gunn envisioned a younger Superman for his cinematic universe.
Over the weekend, it was disclosed that Corenswet auditioned for a part in Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ which was the director’s final MCU project before transitioning to his new responsibilities. Corenswet aimed to play Adam Warlock, a role that ultimately went to Will Poulter.

With the reboot of Dceu, Gunn’s & Safran’s Dcu is ready to take its place rebooting most of the stories and most of the characters. Even though ‘Creature Commandos’ is the first project to be released as a part of ‘Chapter 1: Gods & Monster’ the director considers ‘Superman’ bound to be released in 2025 the true start of the Dcu.
Fans were devastated to learn that Henry Cavill wouldn’t reprise his role as Superman, but a few months later it’s been revealed that David Corenswet will be taking over, as Gunn envisioned a younger Superman for his cinematic universe.
Now over the weekend, it’s been revealed that Corenswet auditioned for a role in Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ – the last project the director helmed for the MCU before he took over his new duties. Corenswet apparently wanted to portray Adam Warlock, a role that eventually went to Will Poulter.

David Corenswet is our new Man of Steel, but before landing the leading role in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, he had auditioned for the role of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, at least, that was the rumour.
Responding to a fan on Threads, Gunn confirmed that Corenset did indeed audition for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but admitted that he doesn’t actually recall it. “I asked him about it and he said he did so I believe him, but I don’t remember it,” Gunn said. The fan also asked if Superman’s flying scenes in the new movie might be similar to Adam Warlock’s flying scenes from Guardians 3. “No, what we’re doing now for flying is much more complex than what was done for [Adam Warlock],” Gunn responded.

David Corenswet is one of the biggest hypes in the industry right now, and a major reason behind this is his perfect casting as the iconic Superman by James Gunn for his upcoming reboot of the DC Universe. But years before this Gunn-Corenswet collaboration for the Dcu, there was a time when this pair almost got together for a project for another universe.

Will Poulter’s arrival in the Hollywood circuit was a nondescript event followed by a splattering of teenage comic roles and anti-heroic sidekicks. It wasn’t until his arc in Jeremy Allen White’s series The Bear that the audience began seeing the actor as a true male lead, worthy not only of the spot at the top but looking every inch deserving of it. Quiet, focused, centered, and gravitational — something about Poulter’s role as Chef Luca drew the audience in like moths to a flame. The attraction to his character didn’t lie in his composed charm but in the unnamed, unspecified weight that he seemed to silently shoulder in his self-isolated corner of the world.

Legendary actress Sharon Stone has performed many memorable roles in classic films in her four-decade-long career. Known as a s*x symbol in her heyday, the actress has worked with acclaimed directors such as Martin Scorsese, Wes Craven, Steven Soderbergh, and more. She received an Academy Award nomination for her role in Casino.
Stone had claimed long back in 2016 that she was part of a Marvel film. At the time, she had revealed that her character’s superpowers were related to heat and that she could not divulge a lot of information due to contractual obligations. While she is yet to be seen in an MCU film, a theory states that James Gunn might have cut her role from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Alex Garland may have said that he’s not planning to direct again in the foreseeable future, but he is currently directing another film while his movie Civil War heads out into the world and he works on the scripts for the upcoming 28 Years Later trilogy (a follow-up to his Danny Boyle collaboration 28 Days Later). Garland’s new directorial effort is called Warfare, and he’s co-directing it with Ray Mendoza, who served as the military supervisor for Civil War. Garland and Mendoza also wrote the screenplay together. Marvel may be going through a rough patch lately, but the big film brand still had a few successes in the last year. One of those was the completion of James Gunn‘s trilogy of Space A-holes, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The Guardians were a big part of the MCU’s second phase. It was considered a big risk for the company since they were not a popular name and deemed too unconventional when compared to the other superhero films. Nevertheless, the first movie raised $773.3 million at the box office and made stars of Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista and James Gunn. Fast forward to phase five, Gunn has the Guardians go their separate ways, then proceeds to take his new position as the co-chief of the Dcu.

Zoe Saldaña doesn’t think Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is gone for good. The actress said this week it would be a “huge loss” for the MCU to say goodbye to its ragtag group of intergalactic heroes.
“I would think it would be a huge loss for Marvel if they didn’t find a way to bring back the Guardians of the Galaxy,” Saldaña said in an appearance on The Playlist. “It’s just such a fan-favorite group of misfits, you know? And then at the helm, they had a voice like James Gunn’s writing — which is just so marvelous for and very specific for this genre.”

Zoe Saldaña was asked on an upcoming episode of The Playlist’s “Discourse” podcast if she was “done” playing Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe now that James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy has ended. Gunn has moved on to DC, and some of Saldaña’s co-stars like Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer) have vowed that “Vol. 3” was their last “Guardians” movie.
“I mean, so far, I think that she is [gone for good] for me, but I don’t think Gamora has gone for good,” Saldaña answered, suggesting she is not interested in playing Gamora again at this time but certainly the character still exists within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its sprawling multiverse.

“True Detective” season four, officially titled “True Detective: Night Country,” has returned the HBO crime series to its former glories after seasons two and three disappointed. This entry follows Jodie Foster as a police chief investigating the vanishing of eight men in the spooky, fictional town of Ennis, Alaska.
One of many things, along with the eerie town and Lovecraftian seasoning, that makes this series so excellent is its cast. Two-time Oscar-winner Foster is joined by a trio of other veterans — Christopher Eccleston, Fiona Shaw, and John Hawkes — plus a pair of newcomers: former boxer Kali Reis and rising star Finn Bennett. Bennett plays police Officer Peter Prior, the son of Hawkes’ Captain Prior, and he turns in a nuanced, memorable performance. Critics have agreed, too, he makes the strongest impression amongst the series’ supporting cast.

Details have emerged regarding Garland’s next film, and it seems the filmmaker will be remaining in the ‘theatre of conflict’ with Warfare.
Early reviews are surfacing for Alex Garland’s Civil War, and according to the buzz, we could be in for something special. ‘Visceral’ is a word that seems to keep popping up, and that’s no surprise given that Garland is a filmmaker who excels at making audiences feel uncomfortable in their own skin. In Civil War, it’s armed conflict between fellow Americans that is set to have audiences squirming in their seats, and according to World of Reel, it’s armed conflict that Garland will be focusing on for his next project, too.
The outlet has revealed lots of details for Garland’s next film, including its title, setting and its leading man. While we learned last month that Garland’s next project with A...

Exclusive: Oscar winning Nomadland producer Peter Spears has optioned Mike Nichols: A Life, the 2021 biography of the director by Mark Harris, for development as a dramatic feature film.
The planned adaptation of the book, a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist, will not be a cradle-to-grave biography but will focus on a young Nichols as he journeys from Broadway to Hollywood to make his first film, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966), depicting his high-stakes collaboration with the film’s two married stars, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
Spears will develop the film for his production company, Cor Cordium. The Marvel heroes have been defeated. Captain Marvel and her fellow heroines didn’t have the power. Thor lies on the ground, embarrassed. Ant-Man and the Wasp, unequal to the task. Through the wreckage strides the Mad Titan Thanos, ready to reclaim his position.
“I am inevitable,” he declares.
That scene from Avengers: Endgame feels more and more prophetic as the MCU’s popularity continues to slip. Decreasing returns have plagued the franchise since Endgame, with audiences showing less interest with characters both new and familiar. Even strong post-Endgame entries, such as the second season of Loki, seem to fade away quickly from the conversation these days.
And so when Thanos actor Josh Brolin told ComicBook.com in a new interview about the Mad Titan’s potential return, some fans sighed in resignation. “You know, I hear kind of like through the grapevine, that they’re gonna bring him back,” said Brolin,...

It’s a location that looks like a movie set from classic Westerns: For his third Louis Vuitton Men’s presentation, Pharrell Williams staged the French brand’s Fall Winter 2024 runway show at the Jardin d’Acclimatation in the Bois de Boulogne, just behind the fashion label’s headquarters.
In a show called “Paris, Virginia” — Williams was born in Virginia — models playied the part of cowboys parading in front of a huge screen where the striking scenery of the snow-capped Rocky Mountains, those of Montana, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico was projected. At one point, snow even fell on the guests in the room.
Previewing the runway show during Paris Fashion Week was a short film created by Bafic with Ron Husband — one of the world’s most influential cartoonists on the Walt Disney Animation Studios production team (The Lion King, The Little Mermaid) — filmed while drawing a sketch of a cowboy.

We all know that Sundance is a welcoming launchpad for first-time filmmakers — and this was indeed the case for Daniel Minahan who shored up all the way in 2001 with Series 7: The Contenders. a gnarly comedy noir thriller that reminds us of The Running Man. Almost a quarter of a century later and tons of television series work later, the filmmaker might bring On Swift Horses — a period piece item featuring strained relationships, horses, gambling and the likes of Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi and Will Poulter. Written by Bryce Kass (Lizzie), production took place in at the beginning of the year in.…...

There are some fascinating names behind A24‘s dark comedy, Death of a Unicorne, beyond stars Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega. Not only is it produced by Ari Aster, but horror master John Carpenter will compose music for the film.
In Death of a Unicorne, “A father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (Richard Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.”

Award-winning filmmaker and composer John Carpenter (Halloween), Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies will compose music for the film.

Filming Joker may not be an experience Robert De Niro and Joaquin Phoenix look back on fondly. At least when it comes to the dynamic between the two of them. The actors clashed on the set of the 2019 film. Not about the storyline or a simple case of differing personalities. Rather, their conflicting approaches to filming.
Friction between Phoenix and De Niro happened because of a read-through
As Joker director Todd Phillips told Vanity Fair, a problem came up almost immediately as a result of Phoenix and De Niro’s acting methods. De Niro, he explained, liked doing read-throughs of the script from cover to cover prior to shooting. Whereas Phoenix adopted a looser, “let it happen” method.
It all started when Phillips got a call from De Niro asking him to relay a message to Phoenix. “Bob called me, and he goes, ‘Tell him he’s an actor and...

Jennifer Aniston’s no stranger to kissing co-stars. She’s done it many times throughout her career, locking lips with her friend and co-star Adam Sandler three times alone. Plus, why Poulter later admitted to being “very sorry” about the whole thing.
Aniston taught her movie son how to kiss in ‘We’re the Millers’

One of the biggest box office surprises in 2013 was the comedy film "We're the Millers," which featured Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, and Will Poulter as a ragtag group of amateur drug smugglers posing as a family in the hopes of bringing home a massive payday. The road trip comedy was a huge financial success and is considered by many to be one of the very best films of Sudeikis' career. Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber ("Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story"), the film also features a knock-out supporting cast including Nick Offerman, Kathryn Hahn, Ed Helms, Molly Quinn, Luis Guzman, Thomas Lennon, Ken Marino, Tomer Sisley, Matthew Willig, and the feature film debut of Sam Richardson.

We’re the Millers fans aren’t likely to find out what happened to David, Rose, Kenny, and Casey because a sequel isn’t in the cards.
The 2013 comedy left fans with a cliffhanger. “The Millers” ended up in witness protection, living in the suburbs, running a marijuana side hustle. Questions were left unanswered like: Did David and Rose really end up together? And what role do Kenny and Casey play in the faux family?
We’re the Millers 2 ‘is probably not gonna happen’
Actor Will Poulter who played Kenny Miller said that he doesn’t think a sequel will ever happen. “I don’t think so, but I got a lot of love for Jennifer [Aniston] and Jason [Sudeikis] and Rawson [Marshall Thurber], our director. I would happily work with any of them again, but I think We’re Still the Millers is probably not gonna happen,” he told US Weekly in 2022.

Mumbai, Aug 23 (Ians) Actor Rohit Bose Roy, who has voiced Peter Quill in all the three Hindi versions of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise, said that he enjoyed voicing Chris Pratt’s character of Peter Quill as his character is similar to what he is in real life.
Rohit said: “Voicing Chris Pratt in the role of Peter Quill or Star-Lord was so much fun because his character is similar to what I am in real life- fun, engaging and a little cocky. I remember the first time I dubbed for Peter Quill, they were so excited about my voice on Chris Pratt’s face that I became his unofficial voice across India.
“Working in this industry is something that makes me happy, and the fact that the film is a part of the epic Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy franchise only adds to my happiness.”

It’s hard to say how “Painkiller,” a fictionalized Netflix limited series based on America’s opioid crisis, would play had one never seen the similarly themed and structured – and vastly superior – 2021 Hulu limited series “Dopesick.”
The new show’s misuse of lead actors Uzo Aduba, who plays a crusading U.S. Attorney’s office investigator, and Matthew Broderick, who plays real-life former Purdue Pharma head Richard Sackler – would be evident either way. So would director Peter Berg’s overuse of early aughts-style rock ‘em sock ‘em shaky camera work, quick edits and blue light.
But “Painkiller” likely would not seem so wholly unnecessary if “Dopesick” did not exist.
Unfolding over six hour-long episodes, “Painkiller” makes compelling points about Purdue, the pharmaceutical company that overhyped the painkilling potential of its drug OxyContin while underplaying its addictive qualities. Characters repeatedly call OxyContin what it is: heroin in candy coating. Such frankness...

Welcome back to another Blu-ray round-up. Every other week I try to bring you the best new Blu-ray releases; releases you might want to pick up for yourself and add to your growing collection. This week's line-up is eclectic, to say the least. There's a new Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel; there's a "John Wick"-like action flick; there's a '90s comedy that used to play on TV all the time back in the day; and there's a horror cult classic getting the 4K treatment. So come along with me once again as we dive into the wonderful world of Blu-rays. Because remember: streaming comes and goes, but physical media is forever.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
When all is said and done, the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies might end up being the crown jewels of the MCU. While many Marvel Cinematic Universe movies (especially recent ones) tend...
