[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “The Afterparty” Episode 8, “Maggie,” including the killer’s identity.]
“The Afterparty” has ended. The killer has been caught. But unlike his prison-bound character, the actor behind the “who” in “whodunit” can breathe a little easier — at last.
“I’ve been lying to people for a year now.”
That’s Ben Schwartz, the actor behind Yasper, an Av technician and aspiring musician who turned out to be the suspect everyone was looking for throughout a tense, clever, and altogether rewarding first season of Christopher Miller’s Apple TV+ murder-mystery.
After a long night of interrogations, Tiffany Haddish’s Detective Danner makes an arrest and gets a confession out of Yasper, who sent Xavier (Dave Franco) tumbling to his death earlier that morning. Why? The former bandmates held a mutual grudge since their break up, one Yasper was willing to forgive if the megastar formerly known as Eugene helped jumpstart his nascent music career.

TBS has pulled the plug on “Wrecked” after three seasons, Variety has confirmed.
The show starred Asif Ali, Zach Cregger, Rhys Darby, Brooke Dillman, Will Greenberg, Jessica Lowe, Ally Maki and Brian Sacca, and was executive-produced by Justin Shipley, Jordan Shipley and Jesse Hara.
Season 3 of the single-camera comedy, which follows a diverse group of strangers who are stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash, ended in October.
Ratings for season 3 has fallen to an average of 0.32 in the key 18-49 demographic, and the total viewership was down to around 850,000 across the season. Season 2 had posted only slightly better ratings, with a 0.39 average, and a higher total viewership of just over 1 million.
In her scathing review of the show, Variety critic Maureen Ryan commented that the show’s “downfall lies in the fact that very little of what transpires is funny.”...

It’s official — TBS will not be ordering a fourth season of its comedy series Wrecked.
The writing had been on the wall for the series about a group of people stranded on an island, after their airplane crashed in the ocean. Its third season ended its run in October, and star Zach Cregger indicated on Twitter last summer that there would be no fourth season.
Wrecked, a comedic take on Lost — was a breakout hit for TBS when it debuted in 2016 but its ratings have tapered off since then.
Wrecked was about a diverse group of airplane passengers stranded on an uninhabited island, a dangerous new world where they must face many threats – mostly brought on by themselves. No longer plugged into the rest of the world, the group struggled to navigate their makeshift society while also learning to live without such modern comforts as indoor plumbing, wi-fi, social media and Chipotle.

In Josh Radnor’s charming sophomore feature, Liberal Arts, the actor/director/writer recognizes that many adult males in their mid-thirties glide through their lives half awake, half confused, yearning for the freedom and potential of their college days. Here, Radnor sends himself back to his actual alma mater on a visit to an old friend, but his attention is diverted when he meets a 19-year-old wise beyond her years, leading to much contemplation about his own life. Though tonally topsy-turvy, the film amiably explores the pitfalls and blessings of nostalgia and receptivity thanks to Radnor’s amusing script and a pair of brilliantly exposed performances by Elizabeth Olsen and Richard Jenkins.
Burying his nose in books to block out the world around him, Jesse Fisher (Radnor) has been coasting by as a New York City school guidance counselor with no real aim for his own life. When he’s...

When actor Josh Radnor visited his alma mater in spring 2010, he was struck with a realization that hits many 30-somethings returning to their colleges – that the current students walking paths and studying in the same halls he had about 15 years prior looked so young.
“It was just this startling moment when I realized that I was nearly twice as old as the students there,” Radnor said of visiting Kenyon College to screen his directorial debut, happythankyoumoreplease. “It was really strange because my memories of college are so vivid. There's a lot more to Josh Radnor than "How I Met Your Mother." Best known for playing Ted Mosby on the hit CBS sitcom -- which is heading into its eighth season -- Radnor has done quite a good job of stepping away from the series in recent years. In addition to signing a book deal with Simon & Schuster in January, Radnor wrote, directed and starred in two well-received Sundance films: "happythankyoumoreplease" and "Liberal Arts."
"The regularity of the show is rare to have as an actor," Radnor told HuffPost Entertainment. "It's certainly as good and pleasant of a day job as you could hope to have. Now that I'm doing this other stuff, however, it feels like the show and the other creative things in my life are more in balance."
Out on Sept. 14 in limited release, "Liberal Arts" stars Radnor as Jesse, a college admissions worker at a crossroads in his life.

With the likes of ‘The Twilight Saga’ and ‘The Hunger Games’ cleaning up at the box office and with Cassandra Clare’s ‘The Mortal Instruments’ series slowly approaching on the horizon, it was inevitable that the studios would be scouring the bookshelves, libraries and their teenagers rooms for the next potential box office goldmine that is the young adult sci-fi series.
Now comes word from Variety that Black Forest Film Group have secured the rights to dystopian science fiction novel ‘Quarantine: The Loners’. The book was written by Lex Hrabe and Thomas Voorhies (under the pen name Lex Thomas) and is set to be the first in a trilogy, as is the standard case for these sorts of things these days.
The story is described as a cross between ‘The Warriors’ and ‘Lord of the Flies’ and concerns the outbreak of a virus, which is deadly to anyone who has been through puberty.

The 2011 Black List, the Top Unproduced Screenplays of the year has been released. The best unproduced screenplays from The Black List 2011 is compiled by votes from over 300 “execs, agency guys, and high-level assistants. Titled The Black List, the compendium highlights both established screenwriters and up-and-comers, and has served as a launching pad in the past for projects like Juno, Lars and the Real Girl, and (500) Days of Summer. Last year’s list included Margin Call, Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Hunger Games, and Snow White and the Huntsman.”
Regarding the validity of The Black List, things to keep in mind:
some of these screenplays have already been acquired and are already in development, though…none will have entered principal photography by December 31, 2011. Also worth pointing out is that, as in previous years, there have been rumors that some of the participants have been accused of using the Black List to promote their own clients or friends.

For the seventh annual year a list of the top unproduced screenplays written in the past 12 calendar months has been made. The Black List is the most recognized and celebritized compilation for screenwriters and unknown movie ideas to be heard. While some prior Black List scripts have gone on to be made (like Juno or 500 Days of Summer), most scripts do not. However, what being on The Black List can do is to give a big push of credibility to a screenwriter hoping to carve out a career in Hollywood.
The Black List recepients are chosen by a committee of 300 individuals working in Hollywood: agents, writers, producers, managers and the like. They read the screenplays that float around the showbiz ecosystem; some are bought and are already in development while others are still seeing the interest of talent of financial backers.

#36. Liberal Arts - Josh Radnor Invited to the 2010 festival with his debut film HappyThankYouMorePlease, my guess is programmers might send out a second invite for Josh Radnor's sophomore film because of the lead actress who stars alongside Radnor. Liberal Arts is toplined by Elizabeth Olsen who became a part of Sundance's history because of her breakout perf in Martha Marcy May Marlene -- during the fest she'll be mentally preparing for the Indie Spirits. Expect a Premieres section showing. Hyde Park Int. is the sales rep. Gist: This centers on a 35 year-old (Radnor), still yearning for the life of a college student, who must come to terms with his age and responsibilities. Olsen plays a 19-year-old college student who falls for Radnor’s character over a shared love of music and literature. She wants to make it work with the man but her immaturity makes it impossible for her to see the obvious obstacles.

Happythankyoumoreplease is the winsome directorial debut of Josh Radnor, who also wrote and starred in this ensemble comedy that drew resounding praise at 2010′s Sundance Film Festival, taking home an Audience Award. I recently had the chance to see this feature that proudly wears its heart on its sleeve, and instantly took to the film’s warm demeanor, vibrant characters and irresistible soundtrack. Shortly after Happythankyoumoreplease hit theaters, I had the chance to speak with Radnor, who proved to be as affable and loquacious as the character he plays on How I Met Your Mother. What began as an interview about his filmmaking process soon gave way to an intense conversation, in which we discussed the current trend toward cinematic cynicism and the state of film criticism. With so much to report, I’ve opted to break our interview into two parts.

With the publication of the 2010 Black List another compilation of the year's best unproduced screenplays has arrived. This is the fifth year that The Black List has been in existence, and its purpose is to shine a spotlight on what 290 film executives think are some of the best creative executions of ideas worthy for the big screen.
To be nominated and included on The Black List a screenplay can't have been released in 2010. As well, the minimum number of votes that a screenplay needed to have to warrant inclusion on the list is five. Several of the projects listed on Tbl are in development and will be released in the next twelve months. To be nominated and included on The Black List a screenplay can't have been released in 2010. As well, the minimum number of votes that a screenplay needed to have to warrant inclusion on the list is five. Several of the projects listed on Tbl are in development and will be released in the next twelve months. Others might have heat but take years to reach theaters, and there are also many that will never be greenlighted.

Back in 2004, a list was compiled of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood of that year. This came to be known as The Black List. It was all started by a young executive at Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way, who polled 90+ peers to send him their 10 favorite, new, unproduced screenplays to read over the holidays. It has since become a tradition at the end of every year, in December, to release this list, which is voted on by a group of individuals in the entertainment industry from producer assistants, talent agency individuals, and many people involved with film development all the way up to VP's.
The 2010 Black List is here, and thanks to Deadline we have the list of best unproduced screenplays. Most of the scripts we've heard of, many of them are in production, some have already wrapped filming, they just wont be released until next year.

The Black List has been released. The annual list is compiled with a poll of 300 (up from last year's 250) development executives and high-level assistants, and contains a ranking of the hot screenplays making the rounds in Hollywoodland, which were written in, or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2010 and will not be released in theaters during this calendar year. Basically, the black list contains the hottest projects in Hollywood that you haven't heard of yet. Note: The headline is a slightly inaccurate, because a lot of these screenplays have already been acquired (six of the top ten listed), a bunch are in production now, and some have even finished production. One of this year's top ten screenplays, J.C. Chandor's Margin Call, about the last 24 hours at now-defunct investment bank Lehman Brothers is already in the can and set to premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival with Chandor at the helm...

Frank Leonard is the most popular man in Hollywood today. This fine December day marks the release of the 6th annual Black List, a ranked collection of the top un-produced screenplays in the town, compiled by Leonard. Last year the top script was The Muppet Man from Christopher Weekes about “the life and times of the late Jim Henson.” Coming in second was Aaron Sorkin‘s The Social Network script, which is a current frontrunner to sweep the Oscars. The year before was The Beaver, now starring Mel Gibson and set for a release in 2011.
The top one this year, College Republicans, has Shia Labeouf and Paul Dano attached. As for the rest of the list, I’ll be seeing Margin Call (pictured above) at Sundance 2011 and Safe House goes into production next year. We also reported on Oldboy director Park Chan-wook‘s English language debut with Carey Mulligan attached,...
